Buy Octatrack mk2 or are there any rumours of mk3 soon?

Just looking for some advice on if I should bite the bullet or wait for a mk3 on the horizon?

Do the bite.

And so it was

Elektron doesn’t know how to count to 3

There are rumours of an Octatrack Mk3 on a cold distant planet. The info is a trickle as it takes light years to receive the data though.

OT mk2 (Grey version) prices are very good at the moment. With a bit of luck you can get one for 900 € (at least where I live).

Even if Elektron has plans for another flagship sampler I don’t think it’s likely to happen that soon.

No mk3… the next iteration will be Octatrack+ mk2

no holds barred this time

-now in light grey
-logo now 13% larger by popular request
-plastic faceplate
-removed 8 of the trigs (less fiddling)

They just released the syntakt. For me that says no mk3 is in the pipeline soon

Get it for what it is, not what you want it to be in the future.

There’s nothing about a new OT.

But that doesn’t mean you should get a mk2.

Grey or black? You know you want one.

Hmm - well this thread worked a treat on me. OT2 ordered. Don’t know anything about Elektron workflow or OTs in any detail so apologies in advance if some dumb question threads appear.

You picked a hell of a box to learn on. If you stick with it you will be rewarded. I recommend some vids from Max Marco, EZbot, and Cuckoo

Users do not need mk3, users need the correct OS for existing models…

MK3 will be a kit: a new motherboard and top faceplate for $999

It arrived today. The quick start manual is 25 pages long - no idea what all the fuss was about
