I keep track of my songs by BANK in Octatrack.
For example, I want to switch from the last pattern of a BANK3 song to the first pattern of BANK8 without stopping, which should normally be possible.
However, I have the BPM set to the same 140, but when I change to BANK8, the BPM is faster. If I stop and play it once, it sounds at 140. I want to connect seamlessly between songs, so I’m having trouble with this BPM speeding up issue. Is there something wrong with the settings? Sometimes this switching works fine.
Same as Project BPM ?
What is your OS ?
I think I read about a similar BPM issue. Found it :
The tempo is different for each BANK in the Project. It is a switch within the BANK of the same project. I also change the pattern BPM, but this problem is caused by switching between the same BPM.
OS is the latest 1.40A
I mean when you have this problem, does the faster BPM correspond to Project BPM ? (You can check it in Tempo page, Func + Yes IIRC)
Please list the necessary steps to reproduce your issue from a new project.
I checked the tempo of the project, it was 126. All banks manage tempo in patterns.
Known annoying bug, you can resolve it by pressing the right arrow to nudge the tempo
Thank you very much. Can you tell me exactly how to do this?
When you switch pattern and the tempo is playing wrong press either the left or right arrow and it will “nudge tempo” but it also makes the OT realise it was playing the wrong BPM so it corrects itself.
Thank you.
I tried it as soon as I could. The tempo was indeed corrected. But since I press the right arrow at the moment it switches, it plays faster, but only for a moment. It has eased up a lot, but if that could be fixed, it would be perfect!
2024 June, problem/bug still here. Just wrote a ticket to elektron support.
If it happens with different pattern/project tempos when this buggy behavior would make at least a bit sense. However in my case:
Project tempo 180 (pattern tempos used, though)
Pattern on BankF tempo 180
switch to
Pattern on BankD tempo 180
And it still happens. Yes, nudge buttons fixes wrong BPM issue, but momentum is lost and that is awful for live performance.
I do use a lot of polymeters with different pattern lengths, maybe that has something to do with a bug.
I reported this 3y ago here
Sent another message to support few weeks ago, they are aware about it but dunno when they will fix this…
This problem still exists at this time with OS 1.40C. Just to remind it. Hope it gets fixed some time.
Edit: not sure but it may have something to do with having a flex machine in the part that the pattern uses.
