I’m glad I put that game down(its come to my attention that I can’t stand 1st person games) sounds rough, brother
Good luck!

I mean I love the challenge. But jesus. And it came out of nowhere. It went from rolling around, scanning casually to control-throwing, getting one-hit dead real quick.
Which is part of the reason I like Prime so much. Stakes are high, tension’s real, it makes me feel something.
Sold mine lol.
PS5 too…bought a Mac Studio instead.
My life has pretty much been BOTW and TOTK since Feb.
Time to get back into it
But… TOTK really ignited some career change stuff for me. I landed a crazy new job at this digital arts place, been slamming the Blender tutorials of late.
But a bit of Switch down time comes when it needs to I guess. Uploaded my saves to the cloud and suspect I’ll be back in once a Switch 2 drops…
Or who knows maybe sooner lol
I just got Hyper Light Drifter to play together with my son. Before purchase we debated if it might be too hard for us and unfortunately it is way too hard for us.
I love the art style and the atmosphere and i really want to play this game. But i can’t, our skills are way too low for it.
Anybody had a similar experience or knows a cheat code?
I’m the same in that I love the setting, but I found it too difficult in parts, and I got lost in my navigation on where I should be going etc… So I eventually gave up. But it’s got one of the loveliest aesthetics for a game I’ve played…
This is a game that’s worth practicing. It does actually pay off, and the game gets a bit easier to play. It’s demanding, and requires precision, but it’s not precision that is unattainable, and you don’t need 50+ hours like some games to get that precision. There are a few different ways to play it too based on which things you choose to power up, and if you explore, you’ll find tons of health drops. I’d highly recommend sticking with it for a while. It took me some time, but once I got into the flow, the mechanics became transparent, and while it was still a challenge, it wasn’t insurmountable. I credit this game with getting me back into demanding games and giving me the mindset to then take on things like Hollow Knight. Well, this and Dead Cells.
Same here. Awesome aesthetic and design but too hard and navigation was annoying after a little bit.
I had to move my switch out of my office/studio. literally nothing gets done when I have things like hollowknight or some other metroidvania i havent played yet. I will say for the first time I played metroid prime and it was sick. loved it.
I just bought an old non-functioning Nintendo Switch lite (the screen is out). I’m going to replace the display and repurpose it as a video monitor for use with a Sleepy Circuits Hypno.
I use my Digitakt to control video glitching with the Hypno, but the TV has to face away from me (and towards the audience) so I need a small monitor to see what I’m doing. If this works it’ll have a few people wondering how the hell I got freaky glitched video into my Nintendo Switch.
I’ll be using a ROADOM capacitive touch screen. The Switch has a USB C connector for power and an HDMI input so no case modifications necessary. The ROADOM display also comes with a power adapter and all the ribbon connectors needed for this project. It’s a half inch larger than the original display but I’ll be removing most of the guts on the Switch so there should be plenty of room for the display and jumper wires.
Nice - Would love some footage of the whole thing running later, if poss
Should be ready for a 12 minute open mic set in a month. I haven’t tried to record video from the Hypno yet. Looks like it will plug directly into my Mac with the ethernet connection or I can use the HMDI splitter to send signal to OBS or Syphon.
I might give it another try. Maybe we should explore a different route first. And i think playing it co-op could make it more difficult at times. There are two characters moving around fast between a few enemies and it’s hard to know where you are sometimes.
Hollow Knight felt similarly difficult but it was more forgiving the first few days i played it.
But thanks for your insight, it’s probably worth to invest some more time. Music and graphics are freakin good.
The Nintendo Switch Lite arrived and the display I got is wayy too big (measure once buy twice). The usb c and hdmi ports are exactly where I want them on the Switch. Gotta get the right size screen. Until then, I’m using another cardboard box for the display I have now.
Also experimenting with Hypno and Eyesy. The Eyesy is significantly easier to sequence with the Digitakt than the Hypno (CC21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 + PC’s and that’s it for Eyesy midi implementation). Set your Digi midi track triggers annnnnd plock PC’s to switch Eyesy images on the beats you want!!!
The Hypno is not a walled garden like Eyesy though. There’s a lot more functionality to dig into which makes sequencing with the Digi more confusing at first but you get it with practice. The Eyesy is easy to sequence and built like a stylish little tank. Both put out great graphics!
Sorry for the OT stuff. Nintendo Switch Lite video monitor project still in progress.
i just want to echo this too… loved it for a bit… but too hard, and navigation really annoying
I am excited for and will definitely try out/support the 3D sequel they have been working on for Hyper Light Drifter.
Why not take measurements off of the dead Switch and 3D print a slightly larger case?
Replacing the display is significantly easier to do.
It gets easier, since each section except the south one can be played in any order. And it’s fairly predictable, once you learn its
patterns, you can predict what it’s gonna throw at you.
Go east first. That’s the easiest area. You’ll be better prepared after that for the other sections
It’s worth the hassle. Hyper Light Drifter was one of my most profound gaming experiences from last year.
Agreed! It’s really one of the best games of its type full stop.
