They say that it will be available through retailers in Europe.

Oh - YouTube

I forgot to ask this- it sounds like you can feed an entire drum mix into st channel 1 and then target the kick drum with the band or threshold knob so that frequency triggers the side chain. Is that correct or am I just confusing this?

If so that saves me from having to use a stereo track just for kick sidechain. I also like that you can input a side chain source into it via a separate input. So we have options there. That actually could be the way to go since it basically lets you shape the sidechain with whatever trigger you want to send it. It also replicates using a ghost trigger in a daw setup, so the sound is always side chained even if the kick drops out.

Yeah, that should work. You have the frequency knob for the sidechain which should be a low pass filter (I assume).

I think having a separate channel for the kick is worth it anyways, but that might just be me.

Just matters how you work. I record my drum machines into the DAW and have them all split, then process/eq the sounds in there, so I don’t need the kick separate really, except to sidechain. I send busses/stems back into the mixer and performance mix everything for the final stereo out.

If I am going straight into the mixer with no DAW, then I use a submixer for my drum machine. So either way I go about it, I don’t really need the kick separate.

Saw it Superbooth and liked it a lot especially after finding out the prize of the ZƤjl PM12. The demo was with their ADAT converter.

I asked why they didn’t design it with a crossfader but it would have been too small so that makes sense. However I understand they’re planning a crossfader box to plug into the A and B channel inserts, and that will have some more functions too. Can use it even more like a DJ mixer that way.

ZƤhl is on another level but that is common sense. I immideately was thinking that they will develop a smaller desk for professional musicians for touring when i saw the Interview/video with them and Nils Frahm.

For expensive mixers you still got the APB which is like 5k, but be sure to check the config with the direct outs that it fits your needs.

The XF device for addition to the SL seems to be a pretty clever idea…

How did you find the build construction? Difficult to tell from watching videos, hopefully it feels solid to touch and has nice resistance.

It felt great in the flesh. It’s smaller than it appears, which is good - it’s seriously packed with features for the space it uses. Built quality is solid as far as I can tell. No downsides other than that some parts are a bit too small to my taste. I’d rather have a slightly larger mixer if that would mean more pronounced sliding buttons, increased small black knob sizes and chunkier faders. But I totally understand the compromise.

This is probably the best mixer I’ve seen cost and feature-wise in, well ever.

Seriously thinking of trading in my Jellymix for this as I think the missing cue feature is the only drawback. But with so many knobs in a live performance, Echolocator, drums and synths, Oxi etc plus this performance mixer is sounding too much knob fiddling though!:rofl::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Wow that’s quite interesting news if they add a CF option down the road. Damn. That could really open up the potential for some beat mangling/tape/etc. pedals on those inserts.

I’ll probably get this to upgrade from my jellymix eventually but I don’t need it so much that I can’t wait until it starts to be available via coupon codes with perfect circuit or whoever.

It does look outstanding but I kinda think I’d like to keep it as a recording only mixer and use jellymix to bring to the live shows I want to play eventually.

Shouldn’t it be the other way round? The Xcelon has the Cue function which I think is more useful during a live show. Please share why you think it’s better other way around. In your use case . Thanks.

Can somebody ask or confirm:
The direct outs are pre-fader but post comp and eq, right?
Cant find anything on their website.

I haven’t seen either, but it would be surprising if they weren’t. I’m hoping for a flow diagram soon. The dream would be at least jumper-selectable, or possibly a mod to make it switch selectable. Pre/post sidechain would be interesting too.

Yes that is what boredbrain said in the sonic state video of it at SB. Check the comments.

They alluded to possibly giving the option of pre versus post when you order in the same yet comment I mentioned above.

You can use the headphone with muted for cues on the jellymix and the bored brain is just bigger and more complicated in general. Yes it has more functionality but I like to keep things simple if I need to be efficient.

The bored brain has individual outs to an ADAT expander and mix busses for inserts which for me are more elaborate setups I’d rather do for a recording than for a show but I understand it’s just generally more complete and should be ā€œbetterā€ in general.

Just to be clear this mixer is 100% analog with no digital outs. You can indeed plug in the individual outs to an interface of your choice though. People may read that as it has adat, and it does not.
