I noticed that when loading DT I projects on my DT II one of the things that always sounds a little off is the Bitrate Reduction parameter. To my ears the BR always sounds more aggressive than it should. After spending some time with my DT I and DT II I think I identified why and how to fix it.
The BR on the DT I goes from 0-127 and on the DT II it goes from 16.00-1.00. The DT II parameter range makes more sense since it’s telling you exactly how many bits you’re removing from the audio, but I think this effectively changes the parameter range of the knob from linear to exponential. This makes the BR on the DT II sound more aggressive on DT I patterns and sounds that have it applied.
Usually just rolling back the BR a bit fixes this issue, but I decided to make this spreadsheet below to help me quickly convert from one machine to the other. If you have both machines in front of you, you just need to look at what the value is on the DT I and input the find a value you on your DT II that is closest to the corresponding value from this table.
Hope this helps!
