Been using D16 Decimort 2 a lot ITB lately. Great plugin. Lots of tweakability. Nice crunch. Anyone recommend any pedals/boxes equal/better for OTB?
I bought trash 2 over christmas, its really really good.Much better than i expected.
Maybe that Roland Bitrazer that you can find for mad cheap lately. It’s stereo, and it’s hard to find stereo bit crushers in hardware form. If you can find an old Alesis Bitrman, that would be what I’d ideally want.
I’ll never trade or sell my Frostwave Sonic Alienator. Pick one up if you happen across one. Analog control of bitrate, fold and an analog filter all in one box.
Thanks for the replies, I’ll check those out.
Looked around, can get the Roland for £110 new…Pretty tempting. I dont have modular but have Dom1, Ms20mini and AK that I keep meaning to check out together as an intro to that kind of stuff, so besides what I’d been planning on using it for I could also use it there I guess… Shame you have to use an app/usb to get at the depth of the Roland but for the price it looks pretty interesting. Will check some more videos out…
Maybe this is not the answer you are looking for, but I’ll just throw my thoughts out anyway…
“Earthquaker Devices Bit Commander”… I haven’t tried it, but it seems nice. Its not really a bitcrusher, but an analog square wave generator that tracks the your tones. But it sounds really nice in demos on youtube.
I think “Death by Audio” have some insane and crazy crusher pedals.
I use this one: “Lastgasp Art Laboratories Super Oscillo Fuzz”. It is absolutely a most crazy and noisy thing, it even got a 1/4" CV input for that oscillator-tune-knob, but still, it’s not a bitcrusher, but kind of similar in an analog way. The sound can sometimes remind of a bitcrusher. I personaly prefere these crazy analog oscillator fuzz things more. It sounds sometimes similar to bitcrushers but more unpredictable, alive and, I don’t know… unique?
I think this demo is hilarious:
Link to that price? ÂŁ149 is the cheapest I can find apart from Thomann.
Ah, Woodbrass.
It can take line level too… also act as an audio interface. Made in Japan
I’ve got a £40 voucher hanging around for Guitar Guitar who are selling £150 too… So not exactly £110, but kind of
I’ve been using a Torcido for a little while, they’re well made (the knobs are very high quality), sound great and are incredibly flexible with the reprogramming. You can make yourself a chorus, or a stereo filter, a sidechain compressor, all sorts of useful stuff. £110 is a real bargain.
The Meris Ottobit Jr. pedal looks pretty rad. Not sure of a release date yet but looks promising.
If you fancy a little diy the bugbrand workshop crusher is pretty great…

Roland bitrazer: cheap and effective, particularly if you already have an A4 to cv control it
micro modular could make a good bitcrusher but you need pc/mac to program it
patchblocks. are cheap but you need pc/mac to program it
axoloti are cheap too , but you need pc/mac to program it
monomachine when used as fx box ? ( a bit expensive though , but its can be triggered/sequenced)
the roland boxes seem fine , i got scooper and demora
and they seem to have been reduced at most places to ÂŁ150 , even past all the black friday/xmas/new years sales.
WMD Geiger Counter. Merzbow uses one.
