Big Sky vs Ventris

Hello! I’ve had the Big Sky for a while now and I never found myself truly satisfied with it. It sounds a bit too clean and digital for my taste. I’d prefer more natural sounding room that put more emphasis on the sound sources rather than the reverb pedal itself. Also I’ve noticed the Big Sky isn’t very good with bassy percussion sounds from the DFAM.

If it makes sence I make techno and often it sounds more trancy than the atonal textures i’m after.

Would the Ventris be better suited for me?

I had both. They are very similar.
For more natural organic reverb give OTO Bam a chance.
It doesnt have shimmers, crazy digital effects and such.
It has a very, very “honest”, natural sound.

Never heard of this one but it sounds amazing! Thank you for saving me a bad trade.

I didn’t own any of them (and Thomann doesn’t allow opinions on gear you haven’t bought, lol). From a bunch of demos I listened to, the Ventris sounds a bit more pristine and supposedly has higher internal resolution, but still comes off digital. Strymon reverbs and delays are notorious for their “sweet” coloring of sound and some metallic sheen.
There are plenty of options - bigger boxes. Empress Reverb may be a good choice here, reviews mention that it blends with a source sound in a good way and it has A LOT of textural options

Big Sky is decent but not my favorite in the Strymon line up and I own most of the Strymon pedals. Timeline is their best pedal followed by Moebius.
