Best sequencers with Parameter Slides

Since Elektron no longer creates new machines that offer parameter slides, what are the best alternatives?

I actually really like Korg’s implementation in the Minilogue and Drumlogue because of how straightforward and fast it is. I’ve also enjoyed using Gotharman sequencers to smoothly transition parameter changes.

Are there any good midi sequencers that allow parameter slides? The Elektron machines that do offer parameter slides don’t offer it for midi sequencing. I’ve always really wanted Elektron machines to have this feature for midi sequencing so CC parameter locks could occur smoothly.

Perhaps Interpolation on the Hapax?

The Hapax’s automation section is amazingly comprehensive. The more I use, it the more I realize how well-thought out it is.

Slide trigs.
I believe monomachine had it.
Octatrack has it for audio tracks.

I think the point is elektron no longer include this feature ( or haven’t on recent devices )

Not - which devices do have it ( which are now old )

Why is it called slide and not Portamento on Elektrons?

Portamento is specific to pitch. Parameter slides can smoothly transition/slide any parameter.

Aha i knew there must be a reason

This omission is so baffling to me, like removing the mouse middle button at this day and age, or modern cars reverting back to manual window cranks after decades of automatic windows being the norm, or just in general, when someone you consider smart does something really dumb.

Someone sent me a DM suggesting the Machine+, which I thought was a good suggestion. Now, I’m curious how good Ableton Push 3 is for this as well.

Honestly, recording automation on Push 3 is a massive pain because of how clips work. I don’t really use it until I transfer a project to Ableton Live where I can do it all in Arrangement View.

No slides is easily the #1 that keeps me from getting any of the modern boxes. I definitely would have a digitone or syntakt by now if they had them. Has anyone at elektron ever explained or hinted at why they moved away from them?

there’s some magic that happens when you combine p-slides & performance mode. it’s weird they’ve moved away from it (at least for the moment). sorely missed.

as is real time resampling. magic I tells u.
alas, shelved also 🥲

(sorry to double post but I can’t seem to edit my last post and retroactively include a quote in it on mobile)
But just wanted to note here that the MD & MnM can definitely do slides on their midi sequencers, not sure about the OT but I think it can too. I don’t know if you’d want to spend the $$$ on either box just for midi sequencer but you may want to look into the OTs sequencer & look for a good deal on a mk1 if it’s sequencer does slides. That’s what I’d do

Edit: sadly looks like OT doesn’t do slides on the midi sequencer

So MD & MnM would be your best best, maybe you could find a good deal on MnM mk1. It’s sequencer really rocks for external midi

That’s wild how the coolest shit about Elektron gear keeps getting removed.

it’s a bit heartbreaking imo. seems like they may be trying to dumb their gear down for the masses. hope I’m wrong.

Midi arps also. Bonkers its missing on the Digi Keys!

Tops of the line must have features that the others don’t or else they no longer are attractives. Maybe when discontinued, Elektron will think to integrate them in the others.

Elektron don’t make flagship devices anymore

(Yes, I’m deliberately baiting. It would be lovely if they finally do deliver everything in one device)

Its alright @craig , I get you. They are literally called slide trigs in the elektron nomenclature, yet people insist on calling them parameter slides. It doesnt matter, but it does.
