Best sampler for sound quality

For sampling I’m currently using an Analog Rytm MK2 for basic drums/one shots and a 1010 Blackbox for longer stereo samples, I’m finding samples recorded to the Blackbox lose some their quality/sparkle though so am thinking of replacing it with one of the following:

SP404MK2
Polyend Tracker Mini
Electribe Sampler

I’ve be interested to know people opinions on these regarding sound quality, especially compared to Blackbox.

elektronauts just know it’s definitely not the octatrack

do you perhaps have global compressor turned on inside blackbox settings? it can be quite destructive for the sparkle quality of sounds.

ha!

S2400 a bit out my price range, I am intrigued by the SP16 though so I might just buy one and give it a try. I’ve checked my projects on the Blackbox and the compressor is off so it’s not that.

For sound quality the S2400 or for less money any of the older rack mount samplers. You can get pretty good deals on some of the less popular akais. When (or if?) the analog filter card comes out for the s2400 it will probably be the best sounding sampler ever made.

Akai MPC One.
Clean, neutral sound (with plenty of filters and FX to add character if needed) and a great value for the money.

I would not go for the electribe sampler for long sample it has not a lot of memory : 270 seconds in mono

no.1 in sound quality = octatrack

I had the MPC for a while and absolutely hated the workflow…it did sound quality though.

Any sampler produced in the past 10 years or so not specifically marketed as low-fi or 12 bit can sound amazing with the skilled application of the internal fx and eq/filters. I hate the workflow, but all of the modern MPC sound very punchy and clear.

The 90’s roland and e-mu rack samplers are the ones I thought sounded better than what you put in. But the real answer is use what you enjoy using and spend more time eq’ing and/or get a decent eq if you don’t have one.
