Released in October this year, Perfect Coffee is my personal favourite on my EP.
It is about the perfect day, gently unfolding with expectation, reaching its climax in the middle, only then to leave a fading nostalgic memory of that moment behind - every day, no matter how good, ends after all.
It took me 6 months to complete, given that I had the “brilliant” idea to write two different parts in two different keys, each time Mixolydian mode - without initially having a clue what I was writing and thus being challenged with connecting those parts and not making them overly complicated. Eventually, I managed to solve the problem. The next song, the final one on the EP, took me only two days, as a reward I suppose.
Unfortunately didn’t manage to actually push a release this year but I do have a clip from a finished track. Probably my favorite of the year revisiting the Waldorf M.
Doing some mixing right now - have been working on this ?gloomy art-pop? rather than anything obviously electronic, but there is a bit of Analog Keys hiding in there
It’s not really a track—it’s not really music from this year—but in a way it is:
I chopped up my entire collection of my own music into 2-bar loops and rearranged them with the Octatrack. It’s basically a 4-channel digital DJ loop mix.
The loops were originally created in digitakt, syntakt, and digitone.
A bit hesitant to choose one from the many yet unfinished recordings I made this year. If I scan through my folders there’s already more than a hundred snippets/ideas from 2025 as opposed to 26 in 2024.
Still I am having the feeling of losing focus/drive a bit after finalising the tracks of the EP called voicecancelling in May. Here’s one of them, just because it’s one of the few more complete pieces I’ve done after years and some a few people said they liked it.
Suzies Ashes is a project I’ve been doing on and off for some years.
A lot of our tracks never been properly released so we decided to put out some of the older tracks and I made a 2025 video for it.
We got a whole new Album finished but it’s a slow process with this outfit, as life often comes in between.
I made lots of music on my OP XY while in rehab. I’ve been slow to record it all since coming home in August as I focus on my kids. The full rehab album is still coming, but in the meantime, here’s my favorite “in treatment” song I’ve laid down thus far.
Some context—I was in (and still am) in tons of therapy. One of my therapists, since fired, tried to convince me that my narrative over the past many years has been false. I really struggle(d) with this idea…who am I if not my own cognition?
I made so much music this year (13 releases, first year back at it) that it’s actually really, really hard to pick a favorite track, but I suppose if I absolutely had to pick one it would be this:
