I am happy to tell you that this is totally possible:
LC3 will support this. The MIDI Merge feature will combine any incoming MIDI (such as clock) with the MIDI from the LC3’s control surface.

Intech seems like the best solution here. My friend has some and likes them, seems like a rock solid choice. They are a little expensive for what I’m planning on using them for, but might have more uses down the road once I get to use them and think about it

Correct, which is why it’s a little pricey just to add a few knobs. Seems like a well thought out solution though. I was hoping there were some other options I missed, but it doesn’t look like it.
16n could work I guess but it’s really tightly spaced. This could just be a “me thing” and I need to accept the options in front of me lol

The dt1 is a great midi controller. I use mine mostly to control lxr or resolume. You will not find another midi controller with such a unique sequencer.

But I’m more curious about why Syntakt worked better for you than Digitone 2?
I think I’m in the same situation where Digitone is a bit overkill for me and I do prefer something simpler to use, I understand syntakt also has analog sound engine so it’s extra fun.

Say I just wanted 8 faders for level control of my Tonverk tracks, what would be the smartest cheap choice?
Or is it just like buying eurorack? (Once you have 8 faders, you also want encoders, then mute buttons etc, so buy a more fleshed out controller right the first time)?

The Mixtakt controller looks really nice - especially since I’m on the lookout for a smallish controller with faders and non-USB-MIDI (my BCF2k is nice, but just so HUUUGE). Probably (something like) this or a Faderfox?
I would say it is a little bit like that, yes. I got one LCXL3 and then a second… Not exactly cheap or small but 16 faders and a gaggle of knobs and buttons is nice with a 16-track setup like this one. Of course parameter jumps continue to be stupid and someday someone smart will come up with something better, but until then…

Get an Electra One and a Claude or ChatGPT subscription, and have the agent write you all sorts of crazy custom controllers for the Electra.

I’ve been also looking at C45 as a more comfortable Faderfox UC4 alternative with more controls and pots instead of encoders (which I prefer), but judging by the editor there’s currently no NRPN support, which is needed for controlling Tonverk subtracks. Other than that it seems pretty nice.

Go crazy with a lot of controllers! Many LCXL mk2’s (9 at the moment… one not visible, controlling my Typhon)

It’s a lot lot lot of work to build it but it’s so good when it’s working… the possibilities are insane!
This control surface runs 2 Macs and a load of hardware!
