Regarding my workflow, sometimes I wonder what would be the benefits of having two Octatrack.
I mean, not in a DJ workflow but in a production workflow. I’m on Octatrack since I don’t wanna have/use computers in my set anymore. But my ableton live productions were all with a minimum of eight tracks.
What would be their (distinctive) role, according to you?
One for (direct) sampling, and one for prepared arrangements?
or maybe one for beats and live sampling and one for medodies and bass lines?
What would be your best use of this “16Tracks”, dear Elektronauts?
Two is always better than one.
I recently discovered the power of sound locks and sampling which infinately expanded the sounds and tracks I can use on the OT.
I sample and overdub samples for track parts and maybe put 2 to 3 sounds on one track.
I always thought the 8 tracks was limiting until I got into all of the above.
Now, if we could have 128 steps I’d be happy and another OT wont give me that
Basically i’d got into a rut with standard production methods & instruments. I knew straight away from my first experience with the OT that it was a game changer in terms of how & what i’d create. So i felt compelled to sell my synths , drum machines & see where 2 OTs & a handful of Fx/Pedals could take me.
Having a 2nd OT was also a life saver when my first unit spent 6 weeks away for the infamous headphone problem/repair.
you’ll get the 8 outputs that should be on one OT.
Look into pattern chaining if you haven’t already
