Yesterday I sequenced it with Syntakt and feed it with poly synths like Micromonsta 2 and Pro 800…really good.
You got accents and filter envelope trigger on TD3, and whatever you want on external signal, also tried a guitar.
Tip to de-activate internal sounds : switch in the middle.
I just bought a TD-3 in silver as I’ve had the MO for over a year and craved some acid simplicity. It was a good idea and I love them both.
The MO is ‘not so 303’ as I think many were expecting - if you want the classic 303 from the MO it is possible, but it gets quickly lost. You then get into thick super fat mono synth territory with some very expressive adjustments. I love the less resonant sounds - it’s deeper, bassier and more versatile, but less 303.
Still felt I needed a TD-3 for simple squelch and it’s made me enjoy pattern making.
These are good times! All so cheap and a great sound.
On a side note, I had a TB303 in the 90’s, fitted a Kenton retro kit. The fit caused the sequencer to stop working so I never learned it or enjoyed it for what it was. Sold it and a TR909 for £500 total in ‘98. Still hurts to this day!
Felt really underwhelmed by the 909 at the time, it was a ‘set it and forget it’ machine, and I felt it was seriously holding my creativity back. The RD-9 with its far superior Enhanced Mode is so much better sounding. The kick is an absolute monster, and all the additional features are so welcome. If I had the 303 / 909 and the TD3 / RD-9 I would still prefer using the Behringer stuff - so much more playable.
The RD-9, TD-3, and the MO really are a nice combo. I have 3 TD-3s, an MO, an RD-9, 8, and 6. I’ve had them all set up, hogging my whole desk. It was overkill. I wasn’t too satisfied with the RD-6 and the RD-8. So the RD-9 and the TD-3-MO are the 2 that I enjoy the most with only one TD-3 added at times.
I picked up TD-3 in June but due to an unmissable bargain, picked up the MO this week. Its magic, its rubbery and it fixes the little annoyances with the TD-3 sound. No need to mod the MO, it can be everything as is. Sounds more like a 303. I can’t understand why people can’t get 303 sounds out of it.
so as much as I love punching in notes manually for the old school feel when i want to keep flowing with my other boxes I load up this editor for the td3
sooo nice and it hasn’t crashed on me. I use the usb out of the td3 mo into my mac, while the td3 mo receives regular old midi sync and it has no issues doing both at once. of course your pattern changes are applied at the end of a bar and its not “real time” but it’s usually nicer for me this way
MO’s upper sockets don’t fit in the cover and the the cover swings on it. It’s not a major issue, but if you put synths one on the other with decksavers to save space in the closet (like I do) cover’s instability is annoying. Ok, it’s a tiny detail, but considering decksaver’s prices I’d hope to find a better solution.
I have a tiny tilt for my part almost imperceptible, which does not interfere at all with stacking, our decksavers are probably slightly different, a few tenths of a mm.
Have you tried just reversing the decksavers?
Perhaps you can make four small pads glued to the inside of the decksaver to rebalance above the level of the IOs.
Does this play fine sequenced with Digitone2? That is, slides work as intended etc.? I remember hearing something about the normal version requiring some app for external sequencing to work as intended.
Yes it works fine. As mentioned by re5et, a velocity threshold triggers accented notes, and its value can be set through Behringer’s software Synthtribe.
