Behringer K-2 ( & K2 MKII)

Pro tips! Nice thinking!

I bet the take5 makes a great controller for it. I mostly control mine with the pro3 which is a lot of fun. As for effects I think my favorite is a good ol’ mechanical spring tank.

The dual filters on the K2/MS20 make it very interesting to go back and forth between that and the A4/AK. The two are clearly very different synths, but they have areas of significant overlap that are fun to explore in parallel.

I’ll have to try that. I have Vermona Retroverb Lancet sitting under the Take 5 that I would have tried with the K2. I got a Benson Delay and Chase Bliss Gen Loss MKII at the end of last year, so I was running it through those and it sounded really good.

I really want one of those Grampian 636 spring tank clones Behringer just posted a video of. Would be a match made in heaven I think.

Man, the feedback patch where you run the output or phones out back into the ESP really brings the differences between those filters to light.

I haven’t tried it because I didn’t have the cable handy, but I remember seeing someone somewhere say that it’s even more gnarly when running the quarter inch out on the back into the ESP rather than the mini jack
out on the top panel (not sure if it’s true but would like to give it a go).

That feedback patch and the patch to separate out the amp/filter envelope generators are pretty much my default patches. Any other bread-and-butter patches people recommend?

Oh I bet the benson and gen loss would do lovely things to it. As far as delays I have at my disposal I’m happiest with the rubberneck with the k2, though as I’m writing this I’m realizing I’ve never tried running it through my monotron delay. I’ll have to give that a whirl.
I picked up one of the surfybear reverbs a few months back and while I absolutely love it with guitar and some electronic stuff it doesn’t seem to play nice with the k2. I’ve gotten better results with homemade verbs and one loose tank with a low enough input impedance that it can be used passively being driven by the k2 (or nearly anything else even close to line level) directly.

Well damn, speaking of sequencing and processing the MS-20, this video is well timed. I’ll definitely be having more of a play around with the K2 this weekend.

Aren’t Behringer releasing a sequencer? Its been mentioned quite a lot.

Nice look at the K2 here.

hm, presumably ‘touched’ by the ex-Korg guy ? it’ll be interesting to hear what’s changed from the initial release . .still prefer the charm of the small korg upright format despite its wobbly pots and jacks

Better V/Oct implementation probably, plus other stuff no doubt.

Ow man. If they could implement everything the Korg MS-20M implemented:

  • FM
  • PWM
  • v/oct
  • Hard Sync

I would buy it in an instant. I’d actually buy it from Korg if they wanted my money, but they apparently don’t…

An official rendered picture of the new faceplate, a few osc additions and speculation about V/Oct tracking … still shows some legacy of original s-trig design

So is this an exact MS20 sounding instrument now?

I put this image up three months ago.

I saw this yesterday. In the comment section someone that has the mkii and has apparently put up a video of it on Facebook said that aside from the additional features the mki and mkii sound the same.

Sounds amazing… but sending this synth thru these high end pedals? Even a fart will sound lovely with this ‘outboard’

I saw Air playing Moon Safari this summer. I think that was enough to push me over the edge and get me to buy a K2 mk2. MS-20 is a little beyond my means, but I have a good feeling about this guy.
