More elegant solution!
I surely have one somewhere.
I have many toothpicks ! ![]()
This works well from Elektrons but on Egde you need a pretty hard pressure…
Can’t test.
I tried that but my magnet was too weak and I gave up!! Very cool that you got it to work, I like magnets for this sort of thing.
Those little plastic bread bag clips would likely work as well. I like the aesthetic of the guitar pick so I might hunt around for one that would work.
Welp, my new Edge arrived today, and I’ve had about 15 minutes to play with it.
Holy shit this thing is fun.
I’m preparing a live-set for new year’s eve. It’s all super arty, my buddy beat-boxes & makes silly vocals on his loopstation, I do the drums.
Anyway, first I wanted to only use the Drumbrute Impact + Mixer + FX, but I was missing some “random but tweakable bleeps and bloops”. (The 101 & 303 sounded overdone, the Korg Drum too pre-programmed & fiddely).
The idea is to go 100% improvisation, and ho man the EDGE is a perfect fit! It’s so much dumb fun! I have to force myself to shut down the power to get out of the loop.
So I have no idea yet how it actually works, but it does the thing. I tend to make more high-mid-range techno-bleep-bloop sounds than drums. Actually I haven’t made anything resembling drums?
I usually go way too melodic, song sequence structure and sound programming, this isn’t any of that. Just turn them knobs and run with it! Very liberating design (by Moog) made very accessible (by Behr.)
Nice!
PSA: the Spectrum “Small” and “Small Cap” soft-touch D-shaft knobs on Thonk fit the Edge beautifully:
They’re a little smaller than the stock knobs, which I consider an improvement, as I found the factory set to be pretty crowded, and they’re pleasant to touch and much easier to work with for my hands. The magenta knobs are an improbably close match for the Edge’s paint job (see my FM AMT knob). They’re quite snug - I wouldn’t want to subject the poor PCB to several rounds of installation and removal. They leave about 1 mm of breathing room when they’re fully seated, although they’re more or less grazing the surface on the very top row of my unit, which makes me wonder if the the board wasn’t installed with a very subtle tilt.
That’s awesome, the knobs were the reason I sold it. This would be a great upgrade!
Is there a good place in the USA to order knobs like that?
I don’t think so - I looked around, because I didn’t really want to pay the transatlantic S&H, or wait longer. I couldn’t find these exact knobs anywhere else. I ordered a test batch and just swapped out the sequencer knobs, and once I was sure that they were a good fit, I ordered the rest.
I love that you set it up on the edge of your desk.
i got this thing in december, didnt expect to have so much fun, here’s a jam from last night, just edge + light tape delay and reverb (from nts1)
i didnt even experiment with patching yet, so it can only get better and crazier
absoluute banger for the price
