They do indeed fit. The pots on the Edge are D shaft, and these knobs have inserts for smooth shafts, but it has a set screw so you can tighten it right down. The only concern there is that the pots on the Edge have plastic shafts, and the set screw is brass, so you just have to be careful not to overtighten and break the plastic. But once you get them snug, they’re good to go.
I should also note, the insert is deeper than the shaft is tall, so if you just drop them on they’ll be flush with the front panel and rub on it. I just used an old bit of credit card to shim them a couple of millimeters before I tightened them down. Only added a couple seconds each to the install process, so no big deal, but they’re a major upgrade over the stock knobs.
Yeah I sold mine and regret it, but I was not a fan of the knobs or the knob layout. These colored knobs could help visually separate the different sections in a nice way. Thanks for the advice. I only wish behringer used metal shafts! The thing is so sturdy otherwise
Yeah, I also let go of my Edge and upgraded to a DFAM because of its superior user interface in terms of layout. But if you’d use custom knobs to denote the different sections of an Edge, it too could be operated in low light conditions without fear of messing with the wrong controls accidentally.
In terms of sonics, I am almost missing the Edge. It sounded crisper than the DFAM somehow, it was less blown out and big sounding, which worked better for some FM shenanigans…
Edge surprises me a lot at times. Its such a good bass synth, despite lacking obvious bass synth features like an LFO, and a saw wave! It has a sort of cleaner analog sound to my CAT and Prologue when run for simple bass duties. The cross mod sound between triangles is so nice and the fitler is so nice.
Use the CAT looping envelope to control Edge filter mod, so can kind of lfo.
And as a single lane percussive atonal mono track its the bomb. Can really add that missing rhythm to a standard beat.
Constantly debating wehther to add a Crave or spend more on another mono.
Benefits or Crave is its slightly small form factor and fun that can be had working in combination with the Edge.
Obviously a Kobol, Model 15 or Proton would also add waaaay more. And all pf those on my radar. Played with all 3 recently, and Proton actually was much nicer than expected. And would be the ultimately utilitarian module addition to a semi modular setup.
Sorry to hear that. Tinnitus is a hell of a thing, especially as a musician. I don’t know your situation, but if you ever wanna talk about it, let me know. I’ve had it most of my life, and I know it can be hard to talk about with people who haven’t experienced it.
@ak1
Wow thank you so much for your kind offer and likewise am I very sorry to hear about your situation. I can’t imagine how tough that must be, I’ll dm you.
Edge received yesterday. Great sound palette ! I am looking infos about midi possibilities.
Clock / Transport
Notes (velocity CV out, no pitch out)
CC74 for Cutoff.
yeah, I did some research a few months back and that’s all I came up with. I also manually went through each CC and tried adjusting values, to no new discoveries.
ADVANCE(d) Toothpick Hack
(Had to go to the supermarket for toothpicks !)
I opened the Edge, doesn’t seem easy to solder a switch. Any ideas for this ?
Pretty hard to press and hold with the toothpick. Tried with a guitar pick without success.
