Get it. It’s a great piece of gear for $200. Performs multiple functions quite well.
But they don’t advertise that additional function which is that you can also give your thumb and forefinger a good workout trying to turn the annoyingly stiff pots … it’s genuinely noteworthy even though it’s still ultimately good sounding and fun
The pots/caps are much much better on the crave fwiw
Yeah the pots are not great but I hated those little tiny ones on the dfam sequencer even more.
I actually don’t twist the edge too much now. I modulate the filter and sequence it externally. It works great for that.
For the price I think the edge is pretty bad ass but the build quality is definitively nothing special.
build quality is respectable and exceeds the price-positioning imho, i think they might have went a bit OTT sourcing the plastic shaft pots which replaced the metal ones on the crave … i get the impression it’s because there’s just a lot of them and they didn’t want it to ‘feel’ like a regression
some may soon forget it, but if you’re a constant tweaker/tinkerer like me, it’s evident that the encoder cap surfaces are lacking a bit of texture to overcome the stiff rotational resistance
all good otherwise
would love to hear those lyra stabs!
Some nice overlays now available to hide the pink:

Here are a couple sounds I made and ran through my Akai S900 after hitting the Edge’s filter. One stab and one drone.
Really like the stab
Thanks. It sounds awesome pitched down a little with a filter on it.
I missed the first batch of Edge that were released in earl(ier) January, but they are back in stock and I just nabbed one!

Got mine a couple weeks ago after a 1 year wait. So worth it! Paired with the Crave it is so satisfying.
Has anybody tried any replacement knob caps? The combination of the stiff pots, and the smooth surface and sharp edges on the knobs is definitely an annoyance on this machine. Every time I get too into tweaking this thing while playing it makes my fingertips feel like I just played guitar after a long break.
I feel like some type of knurled knob cap would help a bit so you don’t have to rely on pinching the hell out of those sharp corners to twist the pots. Any recommendations?
I used these…
10Pcs Volume Control Knob D… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CJ4PCT8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I like them, I use these on a few other devices also. Only issue using them on the Edge or Crave is they are a slightly larger diameter so it covers most of the increment markers on the Edge. You can still see them but they are just barely visible.
Where/what site are you talking about?
Sweetwater
After spending some time with the Edge and having used the Crave for a bit as well, what is the best way to tempo sync these two? I find using crave as master it sends midi clock and notes to the Edge which I don’t want any notes sent just clock. I tried Edge as master and getting erratic behavior with tempo. Any one out there using these two together without another device providing clock? I’m surprised I couldn’t find anything on the youtubes. From what I see in some videos maybe midi is not the best way. I’m new to semi modular so I assume using the patchbay might be the way to go?, but I don’t know where to start. Thanks in advance!
okay I think I found the solution. I set the assign out on the crave to sequencer clock, then patched that to play/stop on the Edge. I was patching it to tempo and it was doing weird things. Seems to achieve what I am looking for. I am still interested in any other ways anyone else is patching these two together for interesting results.
Since it seems like these are based off of Moogs Semi Modular’s, does this help?
I only got the Moogs, so I don’t know how similar they are.
