Please, can someone help me set up Remote x07 on a Mac m1? Will it work if the firmware version is x05? Can I use Digitakt instead of TM-1? How do I set everything up correctly? What devices i need to set in midi in/out preferences in m4L device? Please help!
No, Digitakt will not function as a USB MIDI interface for other gear.
oh
i also have simple midi-usb like this. but chatgpt said there is no sysex and digitakt will help me
This device that you already have will function as a USB midi interface but the cheap ones like what is pictured are known to sometimes have difficulty with high volumes of data, so you’d have to test it.
At the very least I doubt that it is turbo midi enabled so it’s unlikely to provide the same transfer speeds as the TM-1, but it does essentially the same thing in it’s intended purpose.
Unfortunately I don’t have any other information regarding what you’re trying to use it for though.
The midi interface (TM-1 or otherwise) would be used to transfer sysex generated from a source inside your computer and then pass the sysex code over usb, through the interface, then into the midi device’s DIN port.
Digitakt does not allow the user to generate sysex, only CC or (perhaps with some great difficulty) NRPN. Normally you’d use a program like MIDI OX or something similar to generate sysex messages.
I don’t think that there is a publicly circulated list of sysex for digitakt either so to my knowledge there is no way to make DT respond to sysex either.
It is probably possible to generate sysex in some other device (or computer) then send that to the DT in port and have it pass to the thru port and enter another device, but that really has very limited benefit and won’t solve your issue.
Maybe someone with more information about what you’re trying to accomplish can help out here but the important takeaways are that digitakt cannot act as a usb midi interface for other gear, and digitakt cannot generate or respond to sysex so it’s not likely to be helpful for the specific purpose.
The device you already own is a better option, but it will only serve as a connection between the computer and the midi device and I am pretty sure that it won’t operate at turbo speeds, so either way you’ll need to figure out how to send the sysex from your computer.
Good luck
maybe you can get help here comcerning the setup of the remote m4l and compability
as shig wrote your usb-midi device will maybe have problems with sysex. its not that it cant send it but if there are problems in the signal it sends you gonna have errors. if you have a decent audio interface its possible it has a good enough midi out.
also someting like this could be enough stable for sysex
if you want to update your md firmware i recommand using the app sysex librarian.

unfortunatly ai is not very good in questions not discussed widely on the web. its just guessing. i have stopped to use it because 90% of the time i used it it told be wrong things.
Yes! I just wanted to connect this remote controller. Yes, I read all the threads about it, but there are no step-by-step instructions anywhere. Or maybe I’m having trouble translating. But I’ve been trying to connect everything for three days now, and I’m already feeling sick ![]()
Now I realize I need a good MIDI interface. Unfortunately, the Elektron TM-1 isn’t available in my country, but the Roland TM-1 is.
I have an Audient card and it doesn’t have MIDI inputs. But if you say Miditech will help, then I’ll look for it. Thanks!
The roland um1 is better but still not turbo midi. Elektron support will sell you a tm1, I think they still have some. Otherwise, you’ll have to experiment with what you have.
afaik you will need to have midi inputs and outputs fir the remote m4l. no turbo speed needed. that is something elektron developed to make the transfer of samples to the md-uw fast enough to be usable.
i dont know if the midi tech i good enough but its probable.
try to ask on the ither tread if someone can write you a detailed instruction for the remote m4l.
i hope you can make it work and dont forget to make a break. sometimes i just works the next day ^.^
be careful, the roland um1 is a midi interface but the Roland TM-1 is something else
Yeah, I thought it was just a typo but definitely be cautious as the roland TM-1 is a trigger module so yes, completely different type of product.
