Anyone has some experience with battery powered PA speaker.
JBL Partybox 310 seems like a good price/loundness, although I read the sound might not be that great.
Boss also have a small battery powered speaker, which is a lot more expensive. But there are a lot of other choice from very cheap… to … very cheap.
My goal is to be able to have forest/mountain/beach party. Portability is not an issue as I live in the forest. I want it loud but if it sounds bad, I’d really be sad. I don’t need wireless technology but a lot of these battery powered speaker seems to focus on the wireless aspect of the device.
Anyway, let me know if anyone have experienced with that.
Nice - I was thinking about something like that, and just got myself a generator in the last few weeks (we have a lot of power outage in the region) but a battery pack like this, mixed with a solar panel… I like it a lot
birds of a feather… I’m in Houston w/ the Texas power grid cluster fudge going on so I’m in the same boat, plus I have a Suburban that I like to pretend is a tiny rv… trucker toilet in back etc.
My humble set up is: Champion 2000w Inverter/generator, Goal Zero 400 w/ side battery chained… I only have one 50w solar panel, but wanting to grab another. The Champion runs about 7 hours on a gallon and is enough to keep the refrigerator and fans going. It’ll power a heater in the winter. It can also charge the Goal Zero on a cloudy day if necessary.
What he said! I got one cheap from a friend, it’s definitely got “that” Bose sound and price tag but it don’t half belt it out and I mean LOUD! Quite incredible.
I woul appreciate if one could give me more experienced use of Bose S1 pro…
i’m looking for a reliable sound for external electronic music. Not looking for total sound system, but something that would honestly restitute my AR and A4 techno combo.
Not for great savage rave with thousand of people, but fierce firecamp techno
I think i would take it bose, but since i never eard one…
Thanks
Another good alternative with an 8" speaker is the HK Move 8. It is conceived for classic busking with voice, guitar, bass, but it sounds very good, and the autonomy and battery management (2 batteries that can be hot-swapped) are very good.
Yes, I have it and use it regularly at home and outside. I cannot compare to the Bose S1, though. The HK Move 8 is really great for acoustic music. But honestly, I think a 60w, 8" battery powered speaker will always lack punch for the kick and bass in comparison with proper a 12" or 15" powered PA speaker (not even talking about using a subwoofer).
(I have pair of modest (but great sounding) RCF Evox J8 for live PA with my acoustic groups, and even this is night and day for electronic music in terms of punch delivered, including at low volumes, compared to any battery powered speaker I have tried.)
Bose indicates 70Hz as the lower threshold for the S1, HK 65Hz for the Move 8. In any case manufacturer statements need to be taken with a pinch of salt…
uffff…well… I have some JBL products and also some pro-audio stuff from others… and JBL always sound “party-ready” bass heavy when compared to my pro-audio stuff… and I just love that. But I am just assuming you want to start a party, and perhaps I am wrong. Maybe something less “party-mood” is what you are looking for…
Difficult to precise what is or not “party mood”,
I don’t think it’s the thing i’m looking for. I think it’s more confidential than that. I open the rear doors of my little van, play Elektron stuf for me and few people near the pitfire. Not more than 20 persons 10m around the car. Often it will be in the kitchen, during party time, kind of “off party” during party. Few people, second dance floor in the house.
