I could also see it being cool to put some multi-samples of vintage synths/oscilators in this thing. Maybe I’ll end up doing that when I get my DT2.
In any case, the synthesis possibilities of the machine have been opened up now. Portamento, legato, more octaves and filters, pitch bend finally enabled. I’m sure we’re in for a ride.
The only things missing are proper crossfaded loops and pingpong loop for oneshot samples Having either of those would help A LOT to have proper multisample (sample chain) instruments!
Purchased this pack and the files are shared as preset files. I followed the directions and dropped “dt2pst” files from the Presets folder to the slots on the “Sounds” tab" as written in the directions. Loaded the presets into a project. None of the chromatic sample chain files do what the text file promises they do not do what is shared which is loading in the " “Grid Machine” by default with their “Slice Select” property set to NOTE."
Hello, you DM’d me about the SUSTENANCE pack but here you posted under BASSMAYHEM, so I assume you have a problem using BASSMAYHEM. In that case, Can you confirm you have the necessary audio files transferred when you moved the presets to the device? (Check if you have BRUCEMENACE_PAK/BASSMAYHEM_V1 folder in your DTII) Transfer can sometimes timeout during the process so please try deleting the presets from the device and loading them to the DTII from scratch.
Not all presets have chromatic chains, only the presets that contain “32” are chromatic chain presets, the rest are “memory friendly” one shots and they have “1S” in their name. Can you confirm if you load a “32” preset and its related sample is not loaded into the project?
Finally, can you confirm if your firmware is up-to-date? (currently 1.01A)
Do I need to load the demo project in order to use the grid bass samples correctly?
I think I have a better idea. Would it be possible for you to go through the missing steps below? I am adding notes.
HOW TO INSTALL
Open the Transfer app. DID THIS
In the “My Computer” tab, browse to the “Presets” folder of your download. DID THIS
In the other tab, choose the “Sounds” category from the dropdown menu. DID THIS
Choose a bank to store your presets. DID THIS
Drag any or all “dt2pst” files from the Presets folder to the slots on the “Sounds” tab. DID THIS CAN YOU TELL ME THE PROPER WAY TO LOAD YOUR GRIDDED SAMPLES INTO A NEW PROJECT? OR MAYBE POINT ME TO THE ELEKTRON MANUAL ON HOW TO DO THIS THE CORRECT WAY?
CHECK OUT THE DEMO PROJECT ### DID NOT DO THIS
Open the Transfer app.
In the “My Computer” tab, browse to the “Demo Project” folder.
In the other tab, choose the “Projects” category from the dropdown menu.
Drag the “BASSMAYHEM V1.dt2prj” file to a slot on the “Projects” tab.
BEWARE! This demo project doesn’t contain all presets/samples!
So don’t be surprised if you don’t find all presets/samples if you ONLY installed the “Demo Project”!
CRUCIAL TIPS
The first 8 presets are the presets used in the Demo Project. DID NOT DO THIS
Presets that have “32” in their name are 32-note chromatic sample chains. These vary from 17MB to 25MB in size. Yeah, they sound huge, but they’re usually worth the “resolution” since you won’t be pitching them up/down for different notes! NOTE THAT DT2 TAKES A WHILE TO LOAD THEM
Naturally, all chromatic sample chain presets use the “Grid Machine” by default with their “Slice Select” property set to NOTE. THIS IS MY ISSUE, HOW DO I LOAD THE SAMPLES INTO A NEW PROJECT AND HAVE THE PRESET HONOR THE GRID SLICES, I HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY FOR THE FILES MARKED 32, I GO IN AND SELECT GRID MYSELF
The first note of any chromatic sample chain is C1! (Therefore, if you play C5, which is the default when you enter Keyboard mode, it won’t play a C note. So make sure to set your root note to C1. This is not my choice; Elektron designed it this way.) NO PROBLEM
Presets that have “1S” in their name are using one-shot samples. These are less than 1MB each, so memory-friendly! UNDERSTOOD
BONUS TIP
Check out the pattern A2 “RANDO” to see how the “8-sound” sample chain is used! DID NOT DO THIS
You can use the “Create Random Locks” feature of the “Grid Machine” to create random locks.
“RANDO” presets use an LFO as well to randomly change the slice being played. Double the randomness, double the chaos!
I’m in Tokyo right now and it’s 4:30am, i couldn’t sleep because of the jetlag and luckily i brought my DTII with me so i went down to the hotel lobby and shot this video. essentially when you load a preset into a track, it loads the audio file to the first “available” sample slot in the project (if the sample is already loaded in the project, it just “finds it”) and sets the track properties (machine type, envelopes, filters, everything for that preset). hope that helps
