Bad Gear

baddergate.

There was misinformed discussion earlier in this thread and elsewhere on the internet, claiming that the Bad Gear video was flagged because it used the built-in samples on the Medieval KO. The joke is that using built-in samples or presets now counts as “copyright infringement.”

It doesn’t, and @Sip knew that. I thought the joke was very funny but also very subtle. I see how someone might have missed it.

Man this thread has become hard work

I now spend like an hour of my life reading the discussion about a one minute long video that likely took 10 minutes to make. And thanks to me you have spend even 20 seconds more. ha

Everytime I read this thread Youtube shows me a new video about the whole ‘drama’. Good way to cull channels that get recommended to me though :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t move the TE drama posts, unfortunately.
So please, let’s turn the page and get back on topic, i.e. our dear Pilz.

Every TE-related post under my message can be flagged for deletion.

Thank you for your understanding.

Too much information/misinformation with this KO2 - Bad Gear issue.

Anyone to summarize it to me?

On a side note where does this leave Florian? Mud sticks on youtube. And he may smile but underneath i bet hes simmering.

Well, it’s not Florian’s “fault”.
He has absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

Florian stays where he stays, at the top of the mountain, chuckling on his throne. nobody can take down the king

I doubt this will turn into anything negative for Bad Gear. If you read the takedown notice posted above, he needs to finish YouTube’s copyright course and avoid any other strikes until March. I haven’t watched any of the “hot takes” on YouTube, but all of the misinformation I’ve seen elsewhere was in his favour. He got to be a folk hero for a day and now that the dust is settling, he looks like even more of an easygoing good-natured dude with a silly sense of humour. Florian never misled anyone, he just underestimated the Internet’s ability to alchemize controversy.

As to the question about what happened, here’s my summary (hidden so as to hopefully avoid flags and keep the thread on topic):

Summary

Florian took an entire copyrighted video, spliced in footage from a copyrighted movie, and uploaded it to his popular YouTube channel. It was funny, it wasn’t malicious but it definitely poked fun at TE’s self-serious image, and it got taken down after a few months. Then he posted a screenshot of the takedown notice for one second in a non-TE-related video without any real context, and a bunch of people filled in the gaps. Angrily.

I have absolutely no idea what’s going on and hopefully it stays that way

His direct response was posted above, please do not continue this further. If anything has him simmering it is the engagement mill getting clicks to create a false reality at the expense of his show. If anything is going to take his fun away it will be perpetuating conspiracy theories about his emotional state over what he chooses to share.

@Starscream No accountability, no apologies, only more shit-stirring and he won’t keep to it so can we at least not give any more attention going forward?

To that end, I’m going to take my own requests to cut the long tail and only post about Bad Gear the channel over the meta.

Edit: Nope!
