This unit, number 1663739 designation Alpha, complies.
Or specifically, they don’t care what they engage with.
;(
have you talked to humans lately?
i’d rather talk to rocks most of the time.
also the #1 instrument is prolly something simple, like the guitar, but my vote would be for the saxophone. fuck that thing.
humans are bad gear.
I love when elektron gear is bad geared, it really brings out the deep discussions lol
I cried, I won’t lie.
You validate me
I just realized that he hasn’t covered the Akai Force yet. Seems like an obvious one. Someone loan one to Florian.
Too busy using mine
Fish in a barrel, really, but it was interesting to get a critical look at that world.
I had no idea that the content was so expensive, I’m impressed that he was able to only mention it 7 or 8 times instead of making it the focus of the entire episode.
Subscriptions aside, I don’t know how anyone could roll with Roland’s commitment to UI straight out of 1991. I thought it was only their hardware until I tried their windows 3.1-assed Cloud apps.
I’m just impressed how close he got to almost explaining all the different hierarchies of plug-ins and what their relationship to each other is.
Also appreciated the glimpse at the end into Roland’s market position and why they seem to have stopped giving a shit about synths and software. Why try to top the SH 101 when you can keep investing in student instruments and church bands?
I presume these prices are set ridiculously high because they don’t want people buying the software to use without restriction when they could be on the hook for a subscription that will likely add up to much more in the long run. (And, yeah, the UI is awful, but I feel that about nearly everything music-oriented on a laptop.)
Whew this one is kind of a take down. I’d almost expect a response to it, hah.
Is this new though? They probably have always sold more accordions than synths, all about mass production. Synths have the same need for profitability that their plotter industry scales to.
I do with they’d partner with someone else like the SE-02, I don’t see that being repeated anytime soon
I believe you “own” some after a length of time so the high prices exist to justify the continued subs.
Which hey, probably better than Adobe (just less necessary for working artists.)
It’s priced to reflect virtual chip and component shortages.
The comments section is fun “Software sub, is an automatic NO” - followed by “For every one of you, there are 10 people who love subs”
Gotta love internet statistics, especially on social media. 77% of the time, they’re absolutely true.
The bit about using your free month of ultimate to put the ProMars plugout on the System-1 made me chuckle because that was exactly what I did when I still had one
