Just wondering if this is possible, can we backup the Digitakt memory complete with pattern once all the patterns are full.
Can’t see any way to back up in the transfer software, only transfers to the Digitakt
Thanks for the reply. I don’t have my DT yet either.
I like to backup my music and I would imagine I will fill the +Drive long before using all the patterns.
Interesting that there is no way to backup the +Drive? That seems so strange to me, coming from MPC where you just open the drive as a USB attached drive and copy the contents to your HD.
I wonder why Elektron limit access to the +Drive? Anyone know?
there are no backups to computer (yet? Hopefully soon!)
samples in patterns - I think it works exactly like on Rytm:
for each sample (factory and user samples) the device generates a small unique identifier, just a few bytes, based on some hashing algorithm. This ID is stored inside individual sound patches, as well as in the project settings. and on the +drive, the sample file is linked with that ID.
So when e.g. you load a sound patch from a +drive bank, the device looks at the identifier and loads the corresponding sample into RAM, if it’s not already existing in the project sample list. Now if you delete the sample from the +drive, the sample can’t be loaded.
Rytm has no way to export samples, hopefully DT will get that functionality… (maybe Rytm too?) then there could be something like a sysex command where you could request a sample based on an ID and could read it from the device… and you could make backups of sounds which have optionally a sample attached…
thanks for the info…
this is really disappointing though.
if rhythm still doesnt have backup i dont like our chances for DT getting it.
Am i supposed to buy a new DT everytime the +Drive fills up
yes i would be happy with a solution akin to novation circuit backup
OB will fully integrate as librarian / manager when released you’d think.
