I’ve used these two bags for about 5 years now
They are both very well built, but I use them for different things. The Mountainsmith Bugaboo is my go bag, travel bag, and going into the woods for a few days backpack. The Topo Klettersack is what I pack my studio up into.
Damn. At wardow.com, there is a 25% discount + extra 5% if you pay in advance. Just ordered a klarc comuter
Thx for the tip!
They make good bags! I have a backpack and also a set of their bike panniers. It’s cool you found such a big discount, they’re pretty pricy.
@captain8, did you find the right backpack yet? Don’t leave us hanging, I want to know what you decided! :))
not yet … feels like it’s comin down to the tom bihn or the GR-1 but every time I’m about to hit the button I go down another rabbit hole, the amount of bags out there is ridiculous and now I’m finding myself on a country by country bag tour lol… I went from needing something that is unassuming and boring to the naked eye to I can’t believe they put a pocket here and a pocket there, how did they do this how did they do that … I still think the Gr-1 and tom bihn hold true to my original needs the best I just gotta get through all of these rabbit holes first cause I’m neurotically thorough when it comes to stuff like this
The GR-1 looks super nice! If I was in the market for a higher end bag, I’d grab one of them.
it’s tough, the tom bihn is lighter I think but the gr-1 looks better
some other interesting finds, but I think I’m still leaning towards back packs, though I think I might at least try out that aer tech sling 2.
sling 3 new version, I don’t like that bright ass interior color but they make a version with grey interior as well…
The Evergoods CPL24 is worth a mention. The price is eye-watering but it’s basically backpack nirvana. The build quality is absurdly, absurdly good and the design is impeccable (especially the latest version).
It manages to look very good while also being absolutely ignorable* if you’re trying to keep a low profile.
My wife didn’t pay attention to mine for years, borrowed it for a trip abroad, and then became an extremely enthusiastic convert. She’s not normally a gear head, but this bag got her and she is obsessed with their entire product line. I think she rotated through every size backpack in their catalog and eventually settled on the 28 liter since she does more international travel.
The 24 liter is their best seller though, and it’s fantastic as a day bag or overnight bag.
*Does not apply if you get the burnt orange version, which I recommend because it’s the hottest shit ever.
yeah that’s a nice one too I didn’t see the burnt orange one on their site though… but it is a little on the large size for me… I thought A 19 Liter bag was gonna be the right size but now even that is kinda looking like it might be over kill as I’ve got the essential needs down to headphones, macbook 14", digitakt or deluge, and phone and battery pack that’s it, so now i’m wondering if a 9-12Liter might do the trick… anyways the journey continues
goruck GR1 all day, decksaver+magma case = nothing can move, nothing can break. buy once!
wonder what she’s using
She could definitely get sponsored by them
I do like the Clean lines of this one, no lose ends anywhere, like the minimal design and the inside water bottle sleeve looks like the perfect place for battery packs
It just arrived…
What a tanky backpack it is.
The latches are great, so is overall appearance. Again, thx for pointing out. 180€ instead of 250
Edit: It is absurd how much stuff get’s in there without cramming it in like crazy.
For future reference, could you link the exact model? (Clark or Robin commuter maybe?)
nice that it fits the medusa too, how many liters is that one?
why don’t they make any EDC’s with the laptop pocket on the front so that when you lay it down the heavier stuff is under the laptop rather than on top of it, rhetorically speaking
