Baby Audio Tekno Drum Soft-Synth

I’m interested in getting it for iOS. Will this give access for perpetual/VST licenses too, or vice versa?

No, two different ecosystems. However, sometimes iOS auv3 plugins can be used on certain (Silicon based?) MacBooks/iMacs/etc. I don’t know if Tekno would be one of those.

Only plugin I know which allow that is Pianoteq.
You buy the plugin for an account, not a platform.
Clever way of doing things but no iOS cheap price as a counterpart.

It does sound really good and I will probably keep it because I am sequencing it with a Digitakt so the poor UX isn’t as impactful. If I was dependent on its internal sequencer I would refund it.

I was hoping it might have a better ui on the iPad because although it runs on an iPhone the buttons are impossibly small - don’t buy it if you’ve only got an iPhone I’d say, they probably need to develop a separate ui

Nice using the Digitakt, are you mapping 8CC per voice to the Tekno Parma? I’m using TR8s for seq and control. Might try the Digitakt later…

Just notes so far, I wasn’t sure if you could map params. When I get my TR-8s back from Roland (dodgy fader) I will try that as well, I love step loop and the shuffle on it.

At this point, I don’t think you can map anything else but the voice triggers on Tekno. I messaged Baby Audio and they said this functionality was in the works. They should have launched it with a full midi controllable interface and internal sequencer from Day 1 when it was released last year

The sequencer has made it much more interesting. Now you can mash random on both the kit and the sequencer and find some cool drum loops which you can then refine and resample, I’ve been looking for something which is good at this random exploration for a while.

On iPad I really love the sound of BA Tekno , UX/UI not so much….
So I used the TR8s to sequence and control the Parameters in this jam. Mostly kick, tom, tonal and hat machines, also some DFAM and Syncussion thrown in for fun

I also bought the iOS Version and the app sounds amazing to my ears, but serios question … how can you save the seqencer patterns inside the app or is there just the export to midi function? (AUM is able to remeber the “last state” of the app sequencer).

On iOS, tons of parameters are exposed. Not the case on desktop version ?

I just checked and parmeters are also mappable on the vst version.

Did I misunderstand what you were talking about ?

Sorry, I see what you mean. My post was misleading. Yes it seems that you can map any parameter via a DAW.
In my use case I’ve been trying to midi control Tekno with Squarp Hapax for a while, and Hapax needs CC numbers to identify parameters, which Baby Audio doesn’t provide.
In terms of midi learning, there’s seemingly no way to midi learn the parameters beyond the simple note triggers via the Tekno interface.
I’ve tried finding the CC numbers via Logic and Ableton‘s automation functions but the CC numbers don’t appear to be shown, just the alphanumeric description of each parameter instead.
If you know of another way to determine CC numbers of parameters, then I’d be grateful for any guidance you may have

Sorry, got it now…!

Unfortunately I don’t have a solution.

I could use a workaround with loopy by assigning a widget to the parameter and make the widget send a midi message of my choice but that won’t give you the cc they’ll use whenever they plan to add cc out.
Just checked, on iOS, tekno does not appear as a valid midi source which mean that there is currently no existing midi output avaliable at the moment.

You could eventually test sending all cc to see if there are parameters reacting but that would be a bit of a pain documenting all that.

No luck on instrument definition file for the moment it seems.

Thanks dude. Trying to map the midi that way would take a long time as you say, and it’s not something I can accommodate. I’ll wait for BA to provide the full midi implementation chart, as they said it was on their list to do; not just for Tekno, but also for their other plugins. They seem to be responsive to user requests so there’s a good chance they will deliver :+1:
