"AVVVIII" - Noisy IDM track with Pure Data, A4, and DN

I’ve been working on this track for a few weeks now. It started out as a Pure Data patch using Automatonism. I multitracked that out, edited and resampled them, added additional sounds from the Analog Four (main pad, noise percussion, and kicks) and Digitone (noise percussion and clicks), as well as samples within Logic to flesh out the rest.

Definitely Autechre-inspired, with plenty of washy percussive textures and big space.

I particularly like the sounds the A4 are making, one of my favorite pad and kick patches I’ve made in a while. I had the DN doing a few more things in an earlier version of this track but stripped a lot of that away. I love the way it sounds, but it hasn’t really made it onto anything I’m working on just yet, at least not front-and-center.

As always any feedback is appreciated.

Nice job, not my normal thing to listen to, but definitely took me out of my work headspace for a bit.

Enjoyed this one, thanks for sharing. Inspiring me to complete my mission of learning the A4 really well.

Well thanks for listening even if it wasn’t your normal go-to. Anything that helps break up the workday is a plus.

Of the couple of Electrons I have the A4, to me, is the most mysterious. Patching a basic synth sound is easy, but there’s so much packed in there to explore. I’ve had it for about 4 or 5 months total and just started playing around with modulating effects, which can get crazy. I also want to use the chorus for some karptlus-strong-like stuff, the few tests I did were really interesting.

It’s quickly become one of my favorite synthesizers. My only complaint is getting very deep, punchy bass is a bit hit or miss, but as you can hear on this track with that deep add sound, it can get there.
