I am trying to “record” some of my patterns into Logic.
The problem is after the recording, when I loop in Logic (matching the AR pattern scale), there are loud “clicks” at the looping point.
The clicks in logic would typically be due to the loop point not lining up with an audio zero crossing. This would be because the AR’s recorded audio does not line up sample accurately with logics grid. This is typically due to latency of the recording versus the timing delay of the midi clock. There are ways to tweak this out with latency compensation. You could also add a short fade in/out the remove the clicks/pops.
Do you have auto warping enabled in Ableton? If so, this would be why it doesn’t happen in live. Ableton is warping the audio so that the loop points line up with the zero crossings.
So you’ve recorded some audio, and when Logic loops around from the end to the start you hear a click?
Most likely the cycle point happens mid-way through some audio.
Solo each track and work out where which one is clicking. Also worth extending the cycle point to figure out if the click is at the start or the end of the region.
You can then adjust the start or end to prevent the click.
Add a fade to the audio region using the inspector (or mouse + keyboard combo on the arrange page, I think Alt is used while hovering the mouse over the edge of the region. The pointer change - click-drag to adjust the fade point).
Thanks guys. I can indeed “manually adjust” (with a fade out or equivalent), but I need to record every track and every pattern separately and it quickly becomes a real pain to do this…
I tried to compensate the latency by delaying the MIDI commands by a negative number (equivalent to the sound card latency), but it did not help.
That’s weird, I thought “exporting” each track into a DAW was a fairly common setup (for further mixing with additional parts typically).
@Madchiller Yes, Live had this to “ON” by default…
@Madchiller Thank you very much for your help on this. Unfortunately I decided to return the product - and I had to do it asap so I could not do further tests. My card is an Apogee Duet.
NB: I did not return it for that specific reason though… even if it did annoy me quite a bit.
