Avalon Bassline...worth it?/ Opinion

I’m also still waiting. Haven’t received any communication (apart from the general updates he sent out).

So… Have we all been scammed?

I feel so bad for you all this time later still having to make these posts, I kinda want to pitch in and get @LyingDalai some sort of bass synth. Maybe a donner B1 is in my price range!

How long is it for you now?

August 1st 2021.

Thank you this is kind, but I don’t need a new synth. I just want the one I bought with quite some money, Or my money back.

It’s more than upsetting. I don’t know the company other than by name and don’t want to say anything bad about them, but I sympathize with you. Some mountains take longer to move than others, maybe good things are coming.

In the “all reasonable expectations for preordering and communications about such” sense.

But also in the “i think people will… eventually also receive theirs”, like is he expecting to make some specific progress before pivoting back from the OB clone? (I am sure you do not know this.)

Yeah, I received mine but would be peeved if it was at this point.

Still haven’t received mine either. :frowning: i’ve tried to contact Brian many times to no avail.

Haven’t gotten mine yet and I know people who received theirs whose order numbers were later than mine. I ordered white with red LEDs I believe.

Is it too late for credit card charge backs at this point?

You can try but it might not get approved.

I believe convention may be 90 days, terms of service for your credit card provider should confirm those details. (I thought about that recently with the Loom kickstarter.)

The company generally floats you the funds while they investigate and reverts that same amount if they choose to not charge back on the merchant account.

So do not be excited if you instantly have the funds back, and do not spend them because they will likely be reversed not too long after.

Yeah I kind of feel like his somewhat disorganized methodology of getting them out the door only works if they are going out quickly. As it is now it like months to a year difference. I guess we all ordered within a pretty tight window in the first batch struggling through the website breaking… so order at that point was purely luck of the draw so to speak.

I do worry a bit still though these Avalons were an attempt to raise funds and get his other synth to market and well that one still isn’t to market. Plenty of people who ordered that have been waiting years longer than us. Honestly feels like the whole thing could fold over if he can’t get that out the door soon.

Funnily or sadly everyone I know who received one from this batch already owned one in the first place and ordered a back up unit.

That was the directly stated motivation by Brian for why one last batch of Avalons would be going on sale! He needed some seed funding for the other project, and without the other project he would not have produced any more Avalons.

He has been flipping back to the Avalons when the OB clone had manufacturing delays over the process but I am really not up on the moment to moment “roadmap” as it were.

Yeah, while I did not own one prior to this, I imagine existing owners (and a few aspiring flippers, may their interest rates have eaten any profit margin) were more likely to be acutely aware of the scale of operations and get in on the earliest few.

Anyway, probably not a ton to talk about further at this point unless he’s got specific updates to share, to any individual or from the crowdfunding page(s). Hope there’s some breakthroughs around the corner for the OB project and therefore some headspace to fulfill Avalon obligations.

Yeah last I heard they are stuck on firmware for the OB thing and nothing else will get worked on until that is done.

I’m still waiting too.

Any news is good news.

I feel for you all

I was going to order one at the time but glad I didn’t

Hope you all get sorted one way or another :+1:

I totally agree and I am up for it, I feel scammed at this point.
Do not care if he is working on them or if he is going to ever deliver.
Communication and updates at where we are is more important, so people can decide what to do with the money he stole.

I’ve wondered about this while watching from a distance. I was too slow to get an order in during that last batch and now I’m kind of thankful I didn’t. My very uninformed gut reaction is some kind of lawsuit, but I don’t know how these things work and I’m sure it would cost substantially more than the devices - but it might force Brian to either refund or get product out the door.

Personally I would say give it this year then think about small claims court… I will say while my confidence in him isn’t high, I also don’t think he is trying to scam anyone.
