So I’m trying to think of some way to capture automation of knob movements from syntakt on an ipad. I was wondering if this is possible?
I know it works in PC daws via overbridge but that’s because they are recording overbridge’s parameter movements. So I guess the only way to achieve this would be to use a midi track in syntakt and have that control some kind of automation recording capable plugin on the iPad?
The problem is the DAW I’m using BAM which has parameter locking only and no smooth automation. And I don’t have the mental gymnastics required to figure out if there is some way to do this with some kind of third party sequencer plugin that can do automation.
Was curious if anyone has any ideas? Or alternative ways to send automation to syntakt? I’d really like to get it to work inside BAM.
I know there’s Drambo but the work required of setting up all the racks is not something I have the time for at the moment
You could set the Syntakt’s encoders to send their information externally by setting ‘SETTINGS => MIDI CONFIG => PORTS => ENCODER DEST’ to ‘INT+EXT’. I believe this will transmit the corresponding CC information on the track’s configured MIDI channel. Then, you could just record the MIDI info into whatever app/DAW you’re using.
I don’t use this feature but it’s my understanding that this is how you would send MIDI CC info for knob movements.

Thanks!
I totally didn’t realize it could do that. Will give it a try.
Now just gotta figure out how to record smooth automation inside BAM music maker and send it back out to syntakt and I’ll be set.
Alternatively, can Drambo record those cc knobs movements by simply hitting “record”? Or would I have to map them all to something first?
So I finally got this to work, I had to use Logic pro for ipad but after automating an encoder that encoder’s value got “sticky”.
Does anyone know what to do to fix this?

What happens if your record the automation into Logic then set ‘Encoder Destination’ back to ‘INT’? I don’t think it would be causing a MiDI feedback loop but maybe it is?

Thanks for the tip. I’ll give this a try next time I get a chance and let you know, that sounds like it might fix the issue
