I recently upgraded my computer to a Mac Mini M2, which has made my Profire 2626 FireWire audio interface a bit obsolete. My hope is to find a decent interface with ADAT so my old interface doesn’t turn into a paper weight.
I was looking at used MOTU Ultralite-mk3, but not sure how that works with new Apple silicon (or how it will work down the line). I know the answer for long-term driver support is RME, but I’d ideally like to keep it under 500USD. I also like buying used things.
Any ideas for a cheapskate like myself? I’m currently using my Digitakt as an interface but it’s kind of limiting.
I had an Audient id22 which was awesome and now an id44. No problems with drivers with in windows Audient in years. I think that are very very good alternatives.
Not trying to be snarky here, but there was a very similar topic opened just a few days ago. Perhaps not exactly the same, but recommend exchanging notes with that group
Solid builds, nice pots, great converters and stable drivers with great gui. Build in DI and great as monitor controller with the build in mono/side switches. +1
Thanks. I have read this (and many other interface rec threads). I want to do the opposite of what the OP in that thread wants to do, though. They are looking to expand their current interface. I have an interface that does not work with my current system that could be used to augment a different interface (that I am seeking recommendations for).
edit: the thread titles are similar, though. I should have used a more descriptive title.
If I were to buy a new interface today I would look into the RME Fireface UCX II. I’m crazy happy with the ADI-2 as a DAC and much of that quality should carry over to this interface from what I have read.
