Can alternative audio sources be sent into the CV inputs to modulate something like the filter cutoff frequency? This can be done with Waldorf 2-pole, which I sold to buy the analog heat.
An example would be to send a synth pad inserted into the main input of the heat but then with the cutoff being modulated by a drumloop inserted into the CV input.
The analog heat doesn’t seem to convert audio to CV, do you know why? I wish I could do the same on my analog four.
I have been looking at ‘Little Bits’ components to make an envelope follower to cv but this seems like a crazy workaround.
I eventually gave this a go. I set up a drum beat going into the audio in on the analog four from my mixer. I then selected cv foot controller as source. You can then use the audio to modulate anything you want. Audio rate modulation. Great.
The problem I didn’t realise is that the filter cannot be triggered by the cv coming from the audio in.
This is how it works on the Waldorf 2-pole, where the main audio input (such as some clean chords) can be modulated by a separate audio source (such as a drum beat) going into the envelope follower or the enveloper trigger. The attack and decay can then be used to attenuate the signal.
Analog heat has this feature but can only be triggered by the main signal in not a separate audio source.
I love this effect and its a shame it has not been implemented in any Elektron boxes.
I will be buying one of the aira effect modules as they have a secondary function ‘Enveloper’ that converts an audio signal into triggers that make cv envelopes which hopefully can be assigned to the cutoff frequency on the analog four.
I sold it to fund the Analog Heat; I shouldn’t have assumed the heat had this functionality.
Can’t believe something that was 1/6th the price top trumped the heat.
“selected cv foot controller as source” as source for what? Pulling up the manual.
SRC on the CV tracks maybe? I’m assuming you are routing the drums through audio in to one of the tracks and using that track as the source? What’s the repro steps here?
