Had anyone experienced an issue with ATH M 50 X coiled cable is not working after a year of no use? Other two straight cables work fine. I remember there were no issues with coiled cable when I put headphones in storage. There is a sound but it sounds like you inserted the plugs not all the way while everything is inserted correctly. I like coiled cable over other types of cables, so that’s a bummer. I’m going to check contacts with multimeter on continuity (why I didn’t do that before posting this here?), but it looks like something is messed up as I can hear sound in both headphones but not all the sounds are coming to the headphones.
I have the M50 with a non-detachable coiled cable, still no issues after 15 years or so.

Can’t comment on the coiled cable (I use a removable straight one), but I recently replaced the earpads and headband cover on mine, and they still sound great!

Always had issues with coiled cables, so stopped buying them long ago. I remember reading something about how the tight coils aren’t good for copper, but I don’t remember exactly why.
Anyway, I usually replace stock cables (they usually stink, even with expensive cans) with NewFantasia cables. Amazon has stocked them for years. Link.

Mine is detachable and there are two more straight included, short and long one. I tried them and they work fine. So something happened with coiled and I’m frustrated ![]()
