By default my Octatrack has a master track on track 8 but i cant find, how to assign a different machine to the master track. 
you need to go to the project menu - then look in Control->Audio and you’ll see the option to make TRK8 the master, once you turn this off you can select a different machine ( in the manual P. 36 , well that page in the MK1 manual anyway )
