I did not have “ASM drops a wind synthesizer” on my 2025 bingo card.

I’ll be interested to see the full specs and to see what can be done with custom samples. Depending on the weight and flexibility, I could definitely see myself adding one of these to my setup, although it would need some saving.

Well, that’s a terribly niche product that I was not expecting from this company. It’s not something I personally would be interested in, but I hope the people who are manage to help ASM recoup their R&D expenses on this device so that the next thing they unleash will appeal to me more directly. It’s actually kind of fun that they’re willing to do something so unpredictable.

ETA: let’s get one of these in the hands of John Olson immediately.

I know next to nothing about midi wind instruments but this looks much more serious than anything I’ve seen. Did ASM just win the class?

So the Hydrasynth sound engine plus a “Sample map oscillator” !

A ( partial ) explanation is that Glen is a sax and wind player ( from childhood i think ).

Decent price, all things considered.

Can’t afford it or play a wind instrument but I’d love one of these

Love to see ASM speedrunning the Roland playbook of launching a beloved, era-defining synth then launching a bunch of weird shit.

Here’s hoping we get ASM steel drums and accordions soon.

Bold move, very niche.

Niche is a undestatement. But good for them! At a guess I’d say there will be another device coming soon though.

Holy cow. I am a sax player first and foremost and I also love synths and electronic music in all forms (plus I play bass).

This may be niche but, wow, is this my niche or what… this looks better than an Akai EWI in every way (and a Roland Aerophone) and with a Hydrasynth engine on board as well (one of my favourite synths ever)… well, mind blown.

Biggest instabuy I’ve seen for a long time.

It’s niche in this community. But the many people with woodwind skills are a much larger community.

I’m more interested in the controller aspect than the sound engine.

Gonna buy as well…

Have you seen the jazz quartet demo on the ASM YT channel?

It sounds really really good. Different vibe to the classic Brecker EWI thing but also miles away from the cheesy fake saxes and trumpet playing you get in Roland demos.

Kind of a half way house between a synthesised sound that has the same responsiveness as a wind instrument and something that sounds like a wind instrument but without sample cheesiness.

I’m now thinking that the Diosynth layered with an Erica Synths Steampipe could be out of this world, super responsive and lovely to play.

Ooops, so that’s about £2,300 on the GAS list right there LOL. But still… looks like a fantastic product.
