Arturia Polybrute (All Models)

That plugin integration is gonna stall development just like the Minifreak. Your first firmware update will be underwhelming and you’ll wait over a year for 2 features that took 10 minutes to code on the hardware and another 12 months for the VST. Buyer beware!

Polybrute Connect already exits, and I believe is already compatible with the 12.

They always released major updates after around a year (like sudden wavetable support). Even before they had plugins.
Its also that with the newest Polybrute plugin and Minifreak they created a framework/software platform that makes it quite easy to integrate new features.

It is. From day one.

I’ll have to try again, but the keybed didn’t feel that much better. Definitely not an Osmose.
But the full touch patches… Oh my… It’s really great the way this instrument reacts to the keys and that’s on top of the morphée and ribbon…
This is definitely much more exciting than when playing on a keybed with polyphonic aftertouch (i.e. Iridium)

Has anyone looked at the specs? Is the keyboard sending MPE data?

I think Loopop’s video demonstrated MPE data being received from the Polybrute 12.

Yep, thanks for that.

Now I’m wondering if we couldn’t use a controller with a better keybed, like an Osmose to control any of the Polybrute models and get the same results. MIDI CC’s resolution isn’t great at 7-bit, but this would be awesome for PB6 owners.

oh wow… do we read that to mean that the PB6 will also get MPE?
that would be incredible.

Perfect

It should receive MPE but the keybed will not send or produce MPE

yeah. if they update the PB6 to receive MPE I’d be very happy indeed!

Do you have a link to this btw? Where’s it from?

Was reading Gordon Reid’s original review of the Polybrute in Sound on Sound (October 2020) and had to share this bit of snark:

A large Master Cutoff knob sits between the two filters allowing you to adjust their cutoff frequencies simultaneously, but I fear that this will most often be used for creating manual filter sweeps because, for reasons that I can’t quite fathom, adolescent males never seem to get tired of doing this.

As many compare the keybed to Osmose: The main difference is that you modulate/play sounds on Polybrute 12 by moving the key up and down and Osmose has also left and right movement.

Learning to play each keys by left and right movement is however quite hard to learn (even for experienced keyboard players) while the expression on Polybrute 12 is easy to learn

I have to say that it’s really nice to have the fulltouch effect when using a pressure sensitive keyboard connected to a Polybrute 6. The default keybed feels a bit lifeless when going back to it.

MPE!!! Been waiting years for this. Amazing.

Just been trying the PB12 MPE patches with the Osmose and having a bit of trouble.

Edit, came back to this today, and all is working perfectly, so not sure what was going on.
