Found the answer in a Reddit post by @djst
They have apparently changed the circuitry of the filter so unfortunately Filter FM and stereo voice spread won’t ever come to the original.
Fair enough. I’m happy with the OG, but I’m still curious what new sounds are possible.
Edit: want to add that we’ve been spoiled by Arturia with all the firmware updates so far, so while my posts might seem like I’m grumpy I was just curious and I’m really grateful for the long support.

I think the Orcha preset that I’m playing around 1:50 is a good example of what the Filter FM brings to the table. It sounds incredible to me (the sound, not my playing necessarily!).

There are quite a few HW improvements with the 49, as for instance, sound quality improvement on the audio input. With only the $200 USD difference in price, seems to me the 37 will be in the shadow now – except for the perennial E’naut complaint about being out of space. Maybe some day a HW upgrade to the 37 ???

My guess is because it’s almost the same sound engine/paradigm between the two.

Do we know if the plugin will have the filter fm?
Do we know what specifically had changed in the guts of the 49? I had the og a while back & was listening to demos of the 49 thinking like… it (the filter?) sounds better than i recall? I might be imagining things lol
I believe the filter FM and stereo spread features are based on new hardware.
I watch all your videos this is great. Never even knew this was coming out
