Interesting, but shouldn’t this be called MacroFreak? There is nothing mini about it.

It seems to be the exact same sound engine as the minifreak, just with more and bigger keys, added filter FM and a slightly altered UI.

Pretty interesting new design.
Shame no polyAt, but overall I like it .
Now I m really interested if there could be a Minifreak Desktop with more hands on Control like the Hydrasynth line.

Currently there is a Arturia campaign in a few music shops (Musicstore, recordcase etc…) in Germany with the 10% off Arturia products the second time this year.

So maybe next time I have a look on this (or maybe this mysterious DrumFreak-thing) again

Some will like it that wanted mod wheels and full size keys in a still relatively portable format.
I’m very happy with my OG MiniFreak which is perfect size for my use/setup.

Only thing I’d consider adding to my Minifreak (on top of the DrumFreak) a super freak with

  • 12 voice polyphony
  • MPE compatibility
  • fulltouch keybed (MPE) or at very least poly Aftertouch
  • more LFOs and envelopes
  • Stereo In
  • possibly a large sequencing matrix like on my Polybrute 12

Seems Long and Mcquade put the product page up a bit early

insane price (good) 200 CAD bucks more than the OG!?

Would’ve been nice to have extra voices and another lfo or two :broken_heart:

Yeah. The only thing ever holding me back from getting original Minifreak was the minikeys. Now it’s got a much-improved keybed for my preferences, but now I’m on the fence cuz of voice count. Extra keys means gonna be easier to hit limit of those 6 voices with all these fingers taking advantage of the larger keybed. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Would have been happy with even 8 or 10! Same six voices but healthy price jump, waiting to see some reviews and videos.

Looks fun, but indeed not a major Freak update. How likely is it that the original Minifreak will be updated to support filter FM and stereo spread? Would be amazing.

So, no DrumFreak?

It’s online

Arturia will be showing the new 49 key at Synthfest UK this Saturday in Sheffield. ( thread )

My review of the MiniFreak 49. I really like this synth and I’ve had a lot of fun playing it in the past few weeks.

Yeah, why do they still call this the MINI freak still ?

Are they planning something larger ?

My thought exactly!

MatrixFreak.

(I think they kept the Mini name because it’s still the same engine and it is patch compatible apart from filter FM.)

Little hint:
Available @ Musicstore in cologne.
The Arturia 10% off discounts works and PayPal has also a 5% discount if you use it for payment for Musicstore (at least in Germany)

Good thing that I don’t have space for it because it’s HUGE and I don’t have money for gear atm.

But the touch matrix looks fun

There is the 12 voice ā€œParaphonicā€ mode with all its limitations.
