Arturia - AstroLab

Thanx!

So it seems that my 2000 dollars keyboard just comes with the analog lab pro, and no incentive - aka discount - to upgrade to V collections, or some kind of voucher… that is a bummer.

Edit: Sounding lile a grumpy old man hahah. This is no really big deal, just a little to medium deal. I’ll be mailing them to beg for a reason to upgrade to V collection. If not I’ll just buy pigments, So that i can upload my patches. Thanx @Heyes

Totally fair complaint in my book, I hope they’ll meet you somewhere along that request to spend more money with them.

… or look at it another way – you as an owner of the Astrolab get extra functionality built into all that software that other people don’t have access to, and won’t get, but they will have to pay the same amount as you.

You are getting a discount.

BTW : Some people may know this – Arturia often runs sales on their software. For instance until tomorrow Arturia has their SUMMER SALE.

Was going to post this.

Anytime!

And, as far as I’m concerned, I think your complaint is 100% valid.
I remember getting the V Collection (V5 or 6) for free with my KeyLab 49.

But Arturia does run frequent sales and you might just get lucky when asking them for a promo code or some voucher.

Still, it’s a change in strategy for them - where they used to push hardware through software incentives.
You’ll get a frequently updated AnalogueLab software that covers a lot of grounds, tho.
And yet, tweaking will only be full experience with the V Collection.

Pigment is discounted many times through the year - just watch out and be patient.
It is worth its asking price, but getting it for a discounted price is fair game.

Here’s hope they get you sorted out properly.

One last thing to take into consideration : Arturia will ask for an upgrade price at each version.
It’s something you gotta factor in before going all in with V Collection. I remember having to shell out about 300€ at each new version. And ended up stopping last year.
Not saying it’s a bad model or not worth the money. Just something to budget out before going in. It’s a bit as the Wave model. Updates and upgrades are not the same.
Pigment is a pay-once thing, the V Collection too. But the V Collection upgrades will not be free.

Much discussion above but proaudiostar STILL HAS V collection 8 for $59.99. Truly the best deal!

Thanx for this but I can’t register, log in, add to cart, or buy. Maybe exclusive for US buyers?

Also, don’t forget to downlowd the free preset packs. Sounds | Arturia - The Sound Explorers
There should be 12 free packs for Analog Lab.

Thanx a lot everybody. I bought pigments with 50% of discount and trying V collection trough a splice monthly payment - free for 3 days. I think with pigments I´ll have enough to play with and sound design. If it comes a discount for the V collection, great, if not, I guess it’s a lose-lose both for me and Arturia.

Regarding the Astrolabe itself, 2nd day on, I’m enjoying it. It really sounds big, the presets are good and it’s very simple and straight to the point. Being an owner of Push 3S and Akai Force and a former owner of Maschine, I think Arturia got this one right. Instead of making what would most likely be a convoluted interface for its software instruments, it made it very user friendly and fast. It’s just sounds, it’s the definite preset Machine. You can use it as is, or go deep in the computer, where you can design your presets using Arturias software. Everything is coherent and you know how it will work. When using push or Maschine instruments you are always trying to guess if it will work or not, what works, and how to workaround the limitations of its hardware version of a software product. Its a great time for software and hardware entusiasts like myself

Got an answer from Arturia and they gave me a discount of 100 euros on the V collection upgrade. Not amazing but I wasn’t expecting “just hoping” amazing. I´m happy with the pigments for now, I´ll see in the future if I feel the need to upgrade to the all v collection

Have you tried using those inputs for anything ? I’m really curious about processing external synth with it…

And what do you think of the keybed ?

Thx.

Haven’t tried any input yet. Did a lot of trades/ buys recently so I’m quite overwhelmed with all the new stuff I have to try

Regarding the keyed it feels ok but I am not a keyboardist so take it with a grain of salt. And right now it’s my only non weighted keyboard so it’s difficult to make a comparison.
But this one is a keeper, for sure.

Sh*t Arturia. I just bought a PB12 – where’s my Pigments / V Collection offer?!

I guess that 199 for the upgrade is much more fair. Good thing that I didn’t upgrade a while ago

You registered it etc?

If you havent already tried, when youre signed in to yoir arturia account, click on the person icon and select “my account”. An offer would reside in there.

Looking forward to checking out the new sounds….i sure wish theyd also update how astrolab and analog v work together. I think that aspect is not good but the sound and playability is good so thats all that matters!

Yes, I’m all registered with the PolyBrute but no offers show up in my account page. There are some upgrade offers for some older products I have, but I was really hoping to get a good deal on Pigments to accompany the PB12 expressive keyboard. :crying_cat_face:

Guess I’ll have to wait until Black Friday…

Incoming rant:

I spent HOURS reordering the presets on the preset buttons, adding, deleting, editing them etc.

I did this so i can just press “piano”, for instance, and then scroll through all of my presets that i like and not the exhaustive list that arturia wants you to scroll through.

1.3 overwrote all of this re-ordering AND re-uploaded all the presets that i deleted.

The other methods to control preset ordering etc is by making playlists or songs but that requires some menu diving etc and also has clunky issues.

I think there is no good reason that the user cannot order presets on the preset buttons.

Rumor has it arturia doesnt really really respond to customer feedback in any direct way. They just plop in a new firmware update periodically (thankfully-but would be nice if it seemed more user driven)……the end:).

Can you hook up your computer and do all the reordering in the companion app?
