Arpeggio granular sampling AK&OP1

Incredible! Fantastic composition and sound design.

Did you make the video too? :astonished:

Saw this was posted on the op-1 forum too. epic track - love every thing about it.

Sounds great  be cool to hear what kind of process/setup you had going on? I have AK + OP but yet to really gel the two together except for in to Daw. Usually some patterns on AK and then playing the OP live as overdubs. Is that similar to your workflow there or have you managed to find a way/setup that works for you to compose/program on both simultaneously? Be interested to hear.

Great arrangements and sounds on this track

Thanks! There is not much sound design going on… well apart from the fact that I never use factory sounds.
I edited the video, the footage was much longer, made by my father’s friend.

Yeah I always post there and here… which is kind of pointless I guess. Anyway AK and OP seem to be the main sources of inspiration… apart from that I dinnae ken what I’m doing. Thanks.

Well for last 2 tracks I used kind of similar process: I created 2 different patches; then I put arpeggio on one of the patches and recorded it into the daw, without the use of midi… just made sure the bpm of the op was the same as my daw. Then I did exactly the same with the second patch… recorded about 5-6 minutes, changing parameters throughout the song. Then I run both though granular sampler. The rest is quite simple… the detuned lead is from AK, no midi. Drums are a combination of my own samples, Battery and BDF. The drums are the only instruments which are properly midi. I have 3 bass lines there; left is Moog LP, middle is Massive and right is Moog LP again with arpeggiator on. Moog LP is also played for the main motive. I guess I don’t have any special approach. I’m trying to avoid having everything quantized as I like when things are not totally right.

What I really wanted to do is to record everything like first or second take, it’s truly an improvisation… and to keep it simple, simple structure. No mastering. All done from writing the first note to uploading to youtube in less than 6 hours. The previous one took a bit longer.

Thank you for your feedback.

It’s great, I love the vid too, it’s impressive.
A very shame it’s not HD though !

A fellow Scotlander?
I’m in Edinburgh.

What did you use as the granular sampler, if you don’t mind?

thanks! unfortunately I don’t have HD version and even if I did it would take me days to upload it… I’ve got really crap internet.

Indeed… I’m in Perth :metal:

I’m using melda plugin… one of my favourite plugins.

Wow, that was incredible! Both the music and video!
Do you have a soundcloud, or some other page with more!? If you were on I tunes id probably buy an album like this!
