Thanks for that, I swear I’ve tried to do that several times without success and always assumed it wasn’t possible… I feel like a bit of a chump now, ![]()
A unipolar square wave for lfo shapes would be cool. The same goes with the A4.
I find the bipolar to be pretty much useless.
It would be cool to be able to somehow use the inputs for processing ext audio on the Rytm, kinda like and the A4 you can set the waveform as in L or in R.
That would open up some incredible stuff and it already has 2 pairs of inputs that usually go completely to waste.
I sent Elektron a mail about this.
you can afaik!
On MK2 you can route the inputs into the track channels even, so you get filter, fx sends and overdrive/master distortion
on MK1 you can do this via the machines USB inputs on overbridge, but physically routing audio in will only insert the audio before the master compressor
correct me if im wrong ppl
Really? How?
I was mistaken about the mk2 being able to do with this the physical inputs it seems, but yes you can do this via USB.
The rytm has USB inputs as well as USB outputs, just route the audio from your daw into one of these inputs
I remembered that the USB option works but I would like to be able to do no-input type of feedback stuff and not having to use the computer or tons of A/D and D/A converters in the loop as they all create latency.
In the email I sent to Elektron I suggested that they’d create an engine suitable for using just the outputs and inputs of the AR. It would be amazing if you could just process any audio via the ext in jacks.
Hi there, since RYTM mk2 has so much to offer im wondering why Elektron does not update the firmware with additional features for the filter (eq mode like digitakt ii ) and compressor (sidechain hello?) + some other basic stuff that probably not that hard to migrate onto the bulky RYTM “flagship” device. ?
The only addition were the euclidean seq, and those kick machines AFAIK.
Just a thought.
The filters on rytm are analog, so that might be a factor, a digital base width filter after the current filter would be very welcome and I’d imagine more doable.
Not possible. If you look at the signal path diagram in the manual, it’s entirely analog from the sound generation to the outputs. The only digital elements are the fx which are mixed in toward the end of the signal chain, and the sample engine, which is right at the beginning of the path. Only thing they could possibly do would be a digital filter after the sample engine that only affects the sample.
Yeah I just had a look and I think youre right.
A filter for the sample engine would be really useful though, good idea.
This has been done, not by Elektron though ![]()
You can always use the analog filter and just resample it.
I could if I had a mk2!
It is already possible to route a sound to the effects channel only and the delay has a base width filter, use the shortest delay time and no feedback, voila. so it’s entirely possible for Elektron to implement a digital base width filter as an effect which is separate from other effects in the effects chain.
I’m past asking for better midi implementation or polyphony or the mythical second lfo. But I sure would love an updated song mode with labels, adjustable pattern lengths and a progress bar. I know it’s a standalone playable instrument but it’s my background guy and I sequence the hell out of songs on it to accompany guitar and voice live.
