Anyone write tunes sitting on the floor with mini floor desk?

My wife bought these new camping chairs and they’re pretty low.

Got stuck in one for half an hour this afternoon.

Getting away from the office and into natural light can be really refreshing. It’s the thought of moving all those cables and over plugs that hampers it for me. Plus my old ass back and neck start to bang on about wtf I’m doing sitting on the floor after about 10 minutes. One thing that helps me refresh is to reorganize the office. Tricks my brain into thinking it’s a new space.

thanks for the reply, i may be moving in the next year so im holding off on buying stuff but this looks great to be honest.

hope it keeps working for you.

i find on the floor its a clamer jam session for the day with stuff like toy pianos. i need to be standing to get in a deep groove most of the time but theres room for both
cheers

I got myself a lapdesk and I use it everywhere, in bed, on the couch or sometimes I’ll sit on the floor with it. I’m often there anyways with the cats, so it works.

I have a similar stand to the one you have, but I hate having my legs through it because I always worry that I might have to get up quickly, and then it becomes a messy accident.

This lap desk, works for me.

Definitely an interesting seat! I’m going to look into maybe adding one, if I can figure out where to put it, when not in use:

nice one.

yea im mostly sitting in like half lotus or whatever its called (standard crossed ankles scenario, then maybe one knee bent vertically kinda thing for variation. thought I’d mostly have my legs straight out under the table but it hasn’t been the case. I hear ya it could lead to a birra a accident :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have no cables apart from the single faderfox usb in this setup, which is handy.

I used to have one of these. Not this particular model, but a similar plywood tatami chair. They’re surprisingly comfortable.

I built this recently and although it wasn’t planned that way it’s going to be pretty conducive to working sitting on the floor, sitting or standing.

At the moment the pedalboard is living on the second shelf from the bottom so I can sit and program, so I’ve got a synth on the bottom shelf and there’s a bit of room for other stuff on there too.

But I think the attraction of spreading things out on the floor is that it probably subconsciously reminds us of play as a kid.

About a year ago, I put together the following on-the-floor setup inspired by Jeff Mill’s Exhibitionist 2 video:

It was a fun experiment.
