Anyone write tunes sitting on the floor with mini floor desk?

She’s a great singer, but her ‘dabblings’ were reworked by Mark Bell and Howie B before being sold to the public. I’ve often wondered what they sounded like. Don’t think any of the demos ever surfaced, but I’m no great fan so can’t say I’ve bothered to look…

Can’t decide whether I need a proper desk so I’ve been sitting on the cushion all the time for the last three years or so…

that’s fkn cool, I dig that setup. for being creative I can see positives to being in a space like this. more playful, less like a work environment. I guess it’s a personal thing.

sugarcubes?

I’m too lazy to find the roll eyes emoji so just imagine it’s here.

I just can’t seem to handle much more gear at a time. So the best thing is, there’s no space for anything else.

I hear ya, I’m the same. 1 or 2 digi’s is my setup. mostly just use 1 by itself. that or a laptop with no peripherals.

sold my mixer, interface n everything else. couldn’t handle it all anymore :joy:

sounds spicy

sitting on your heels, I get it. my knees can’t take it anymore, but I know it well.

This is how you smoke cigarettes on break from working in a restaurant, out back with no chairs and you can’t lean against the wall and get your shirt dirty.

I’m 2 meters long and already had a hernia. Even low couches are a no go.

Actually I had really severe problems with my knees since my childhood (presumably from some kind of accident) that only got fixed a few years ago (when I changed doctors until “we can’t find anything” turned into “we have to do surgery asap”). Now I just want to become really fit and value that it is something I can do now.

On another note, Elektronauts inspired me strongly to get away from sitting, and now I have my stuff on Japser Stands to have a standing position. I also do live now always standing. But that’s all Off Topic

I do most of my creating in a relaxed position, I’ll just sit wherever with my headphones and one of my models (usually the cycles these days) and just create whatever I want to.

over time I build up patterns this way, and eventually sit down and decide which patterns i’m drawn to and then try to make those into full songs. then i’ll mix them into my performance rig to get them ready to be played.

usually at this point i’m sitting in front of my computer at my desk, though in the future I want to move towards getting a standing desk

For millennia mankind has been huddled over, engaged in some form of creation. Forging arrow heads, tanning hides, healing wounds, cobbling shoes, creating inventions, working tools, writing books, playing instruments.

Our ancestors weep bitter tears at our lack of gristle.

Well at least us girls are now generously “allowed” to get an education and are generously “allowed” to engage in activities such as playing harp.

So, you’ve been able to avoid reading them gush on and on in the Dawless Techno thread.

You’re lucky, that thread is the vile-est.

testing this setup out in the sitting room before committing it to the studio. really liking it so far.

spent hours building a groovebox template in ableton all day, haven’t spent anywhere near that long on my gear in a long time. that’s very encouraging.

this li’l floor seat is great for my back, it’s got a bit of give in it, nice cushion too. supports me back very well.

micro table is perfect height for me, not too high.

ngl, I didn’t think this would work :joy: but I’m sold.
