As any QuNexus owners would know, the QuNexus setup utility is not very user friendly - I’ve managed to get decent usable settings for pressure bends and am having fun with that, but has anyone managed to get useful tilt settings for pitch bends?
I find tilt works ok with LFO or other sound design settings, but for pitch bend it’s a mess, it’s either too sensitive so that it can never play a key in tune, or else not sensitive enough so that it doesn’t respond.
and any time i tilt away from a note, it’s almost impossible to get back to the original note without hitting the note again.
If anyone has managed to get past this to make some useful tilt presets, what are your settings?
nope. neither the bend knob nor the tilt did anything remotely useful or consistent for me. also there is a delay, which you can´t change, before tilt becomes active.
keith mcmillen seemed to have no interest in providing updates for their devices or editors. their forum is full of request, which they looove to hear but nothing ever comes from it. this + similar problems with the quneo will make me think twice before buying anything from them ever again. they promise a lot, deliver maybe half and that very fiddly.
sorry for ranting.
haha no problem, rant appreciated - but that’s pretty sad, what a waste!
it’s too bad i get really good use out of pressure as pitch bend, but tilt lets you go downwards which would be useful.
i assume they dont have the capital to invest in those fixes, but seems ridiculous that they’re selling it with 2013 software, and no one seems to get good use of tilt.
they made an ipad app for k-board which is decent, i dont see why they didnt make a similar one for qunexus, with a bit more user control
yes, i guess it is harder for a small company to support a device for a long period of time, not even expecting that.
but it just doesn’t work like most people expect it to, partly because of bugs, partly because they don´t offer the settings.
on a positive note, i enjoyed how sensitive the “keys” where. fun to noodle fast and easy to play very short notes.
the thing is that they’re still selling it, so they should be supporting it - it’s not as if it’s discontinued!
and i agree, i really love the qunexus key and use it a lot. pressure bend works great
speaking of which, have you ever used a k-board? do you have any idea how to assign the pressure to pitch bend? it seems like it only allows tilt to do pitch bend, and tilt is pretty useless…
is there a cc for bitch bend? like mod wheel is usually cc 1 - how do you assign something to pitch bend with MIDI in general?
no, never used the k-board, sorry. hearing that tilt is still not working, it seems it was the right decision.
it really is a shame with all these expressive controllers…
roli stuff has batteries in it which can´t be replaced.
haken continuum is my dream instrument but is sooo expensive.
maybe the joué is something that would work for me, might have to adjust to the hard surface.
yeah the k-board has a much more user friendly control software, but it’s also more limited, and the response it the exact same. i prefer the qunexus in the end.
joué to me seems like the best of the bunch
the battery in the roli is criminal - i really think it should be illegal to build electronics without replaceable batteries. now that the microsoft surface x has a replaceable battery im never buying another ipad again…
sadly all the good audio apps are only made for ipads, the ones which use touch control that is. which in my case is mostly samplr to be honest.
