Anyone hate desktop synths at first but grow to prefer them?

Might have the chance to get an UDO Super 6 Desktop unit in a trade. It’s been on my list for a while but as someone who will always keep the studio small, I’d just rather have a keyboard unit. Especially on a synth like this, that could hypothetically become the “main” synth in front of me.

I’m more of a player, preferring to record takes in live with lots of hands on the knob tweaks. Having that keyboard attached just feels right.

I’ve literally made DIY units to remedy this in the past.

Just looking to start a conversation on this in general. Any of you feel feel strongly like me but ultimately grow to appreciate the utility of a desktop unit?

sort of opposite here – from the very start i limited my gear purchases to desktop & portable units only (well, except for drums), since i don’t play piano style keys and have no plans to learn to.

I prefer desktop variants or when not available smaller keyboard options. But I’m not a ‘player’ either and I also have a bunch of space constraints. I certainly make exceptions, but I enjoy the smaller form factor.
