Anyone else disappointed with the DT2's timestretch?

Here’s a short test. First the sample plays in one shot mode, then stretch mode to 8 bars at 94 BPM, then pitched two octaves down

That sounds sick. I like DT2’s timestretch a lot.

the OT time stretch sucks however

amen break stretched at a couple of speeds would be nice if you’ve got the time. of course over 8 bars will be a bit dramatic

Do you know a decent one in Logic? I always found it a bit artefacty (talking about the sampler, quick sampler and pitch shifter)

dang, love that! the two octaves down sounded rich.:ok_hand:t3:

Here’s a break, first played in one shot mode, then stepped 1-8bars at 120BPM, then 76BPM, then 30BPM

This is a pad sound put through the same process, with some pitching and mild effects at the end as well

Here’s both

These are non-scientific tests

As a self proclaimed time stretch pervert myself I’m enjoying the examples posted. Sounds like good timestretch to me! lol.

I’ve got Ableton for clean time stretching.

Okay, I’ve recorded several examples of percussive and melodic loops on both the OT and DT2. The difference is quite stark.

look up how to use the flex time editing in logic, theres a handful of algorithms.

it’s miles and miles ahead of the dt2.

i really dont want to import all my loops into logic, timestretch cleanly to whatever bpm i’m working at in the dt2, and then export it back to the dt2.

Cleanest time stretch that I know of is from TS2 by ircamm lab. Not cheap but there’s some sales from time to time. Unfortunately not a vst, only stand alone.

I think it’d be really cool if DT2 eventually offered multiple timestrech algorithms. I prefer the current one on the DT2 over the one on the OT because it’s kind of hard to find characterful, lo-fi timestretch algorithms.

There’s a VST that emulates Akai S950 timestretch, but only works for Windows, and only vintage samplers offer them in hardware form. The slick way it’s integrated with the DT2 workflow is actually one of the most compelling things about this updated Digitakt to me.

EDIT* Actually, I just remembered TAL Sampler is supposed to have a cool timestretch algorithm. I haven’t messed with it yet, but pairing it with FL Studio sounds like a fun alternative to DT2 right now.

i get that, but man i was just looking forward to something simple i could use to move things a couple bpm up or down. im really disappointed in it. plus we already have the werp machine for lofi stuff

…using the dt2 as a drum loop player is not first choice…

even tho you can record quantized stereo loops into it. sure. not to mention the grid machine.

Fidelity knob would be sick on Stretch to go from super polished stretching to lofi glitch big grain stretching in one machine

I don’t think the OG digitakt had the same SHARC dsp inside, probably take some time to program new algorithms and polish stuff up.

Wow :skull:

oh wow, that is trash. hopefully some big instagram person will make a video about it and it’ll get fixed within a week
