Anyma Omegas from Aodyo - Now Bankrupt

It is prudent to assume that no mortal creditor is added to the list of claimants automatically.

If I understand the procedure correctly, known creditors should be contacted by the administrator, informed about the procedure and invited to declare their claim (this us what has happened for me in the case of a preorder with another French company that went bankrupt). I do not know why this did not happen here.

My expectation as well. Been there as well only in US which could be different.

Because it has not gotten to that point. Safeguarded is a much more hopeful status, i think turn around is still possible, for various reasons.

Let’s hope so - if you add up Kickstarter + Indiegogo campaigns for Omega and Loom, Aodyo has collected more than 800k euros from backers…

Edit: the comment sections on the two platforms show that some people are quite upset.

As an avid listener to the weekly podcast YKS (Your Kickstarter Sucks) for the past 6 or so years, none of this is really surprising and fits a certain path these things go: raise a bunch of money on kickstarter, raise even more money on indiegogo (and other platforms) in parallel, suddenly the money disappears and backers realize their investment came with zero protection. Not saying that’s specifically the case here BUT…

Whether that’s the case or not, the Aodyo case is extremely harmful to the kickstarter model.

That was my very first kickstarter, and most probably the very last, I’m afraid.

It’s a pity because that was probably a good boost to creativity.

But maybe not everything is lost yet, let’s see.

Speculation on
In the accounting records, the KS funds may not have been allocated to actual orders yet. This would mean that the customers would not yet exist in the corresponding system either. Consequently, the administrator may not even know of their existence.
Speculation off

I came * this close * because I think of Aodyo as a cool company and I owned and liked the Anyma Phi. It seemed a relatively safe bet but I was also concerned that the Omega was maybe too ambitious. I mean, it was in many ways a dream synth but my gut was concerned that it might have been too much to bite off and chew. I truly hope there is a positive outcome for both the backers, as it is not a cheap synth, and for Aodyo because I would love to see them pull this off and have that synth come to life. But, yeah, Kickstarter and Indiegogo are too much a crapshoot for me at this point.

In what country are crowdfunders so protected?

Anyway, agreed with the flags that this is sort of beyond the point. I still hope that this is something they can work out but ‘Nauts is not the place to organize any of this. I’ll leave the threads for real updates.

Okay, so one more nail in the coffin reading the comments : on the 15th of October, the procedure move further declaring aodyo unable to face its debts. I guess the only solution is another company buying the remaining pieces of aodyo - but even in that best case scenario we strictly have no guarantee to get anything back.
I can’t believe there is no pre assessment of the financial situation of a company without accepting multiple crowdfunding campaigns, which really brings a bad opinion on this funding method.
Lesson learned on my side won’t be participating to any further campaigns.

Even if there is a phoenix from the ashes here, I think the best to be hoped for might be proven backers get a discount, but whoever steps in will need to invest in making the project happen.

Where’s Uli? All these devices would fit nicely in the Behringer catalogue…

Backer #1 here  I really feel bitter as I wanted to support a french company on what looked an innovative device. Unless there is a working prototype in the wild such as in a namm event, we can’t assess the development state of such a tool. It is quite obvious the backers bear all the risk here, so I expect nothing but pure loss on that one.

I think that any kind of rescue deal under which backers would get anything is highly unrealistic in the light of the huge amount of devices that would need to be delivered (given the 800k+ euro crowdfunding). Maybe they will be back under a different name with a new device incorporating their technology (such as at least one other French synth firm in the past).

Well, playing around with the software version and looking at the photos of the Hardware it’s still what I always wanted.

Honestly, I really don’t mind extending my pledges for saving the boat - and I know I’m not the only one. Must be a huge financial vortex for them not to propose this as an option.

I think I must be misreading this. When you say “extending my pledges” do you mean giving them more money?!

Wait. Look around. Do we want to change this thread ? Look what this thread was about, and all the posts along the way. We don’t know what’s happening next. We ( myself included ) can wait and see how things change, rather than following floating ideas, about things that haven’t happened.

Not to stop anything posted, but there are better places for that expression. The crowdfunding thread can take some of this, and feel free to thread up something else.

For now i am keeping the thread’s title and will wait for the next update.

They might be too “proud” and always believing or hoping to make it in the last minute … and then communicate things after the last minute …
