Not to mention all the good work already successfully accomplished.
I’m so sorry to hear this news. That’s some pretty serious losses for backers.
It seems pretty irresponsible/unethical of them to have rolled out the Loom kickstarter when things were already going south on the Omega.
I think the Loom KS as well as the Anyma V was done to fund the company in the mean time. Looks like both will fail.
Failure to keep a company going happens for many reasons ( see Crowdfunding thread ) but you can’t just a priori assign it to unethical behavior, or being irresponsible.
Yes, seems crazy because we’ve seen working prototypes and they already manufactured other similar smaller products for sometimes. I really had no doubt this wouldn’t work.
I’m really sorry for the guys behind, so much effort and being “so close” to make a great synth and finally filling for bankruptcy.
On top I’m french and liked the idea of supporting a French company moving things forward.
They didn’t. At least not yet. Saying something like that doesn’t help the cause …
If that was indeed the case, they should have been up front about their financial situation. That way Loom backers could have made a cold, rational assessment of the likelihood that they would receive what they paid for.
To me, hiding the poor financial state of a business while promising to deliver something at a later date is the very definition of unethical business practices.
You’re right.
And again, I really wish the best for Aodyo because I do believe they have great products with ambitious design and ideas.
Sad news for all involved.
That they released a good vst in the course of this is a sign of the heart of the people involved to persevere and get something out the door.
I don’t know what they knew then. That the Omega was troubled and delayed was clear. I also believe Aodyo had confidence at launch of Loom of completing both projects. But that is my opinion.
But if they didn’t have that expectation, they shouldn’t have launched Loom.
IMO Loom was meant to bridge revenue to solve the financial situation in the short to mid run. They hoped of course that it would work. Alas, now they have informed that it hasn’t.
Maybe today’s announcement will arrive to someone in the industry with cash and product experience that will sign a deal with them. The concepts are good and the prototypes seemed advanced. What for Aodyo is an insurmountable sum, for a bigger partner might be a risky bet worth trying out.
I expect there are potential investors looking at putting a lump in to this to figure out whether half of it will deliver goodwill to existing commitments and then whether the other half will fund a further batch to make a return on the future pipeline.
On the bright side, well-regarded brand, talented team, good achievements … and the appetite remains for both the synths and the recent controllers.
All may not be lost if the right investor wants to take a punt and has a passion for keeping some soul and warmth alive. Perhaps a partnership with a likeminded French manufacturer …
Sorry to hear to everyone involved, especially those that invested in the kickstarter! I hope you get your money’s worth somehow and that this gets made.
Making hardware is hard. They seem to have overextended a bit too soon…
The problem is, every other French music company seems to have its own MPE controller tech that Aodyo is competing with.
Oh well I’m out the Desktop I guess.
I’m kind of at the point I’m not in the mood for any more purchases so I guess I won’t be getting anything any time soon.
Just went and made sure my Anyma Phi had the firmware up to date and got my copy of Anyma V from being a backer.
Hopefully they manage to make it through this situation but if not I’ve made sure my Aodyo stuff is all in order.
Just started a positive, forward looking thread to consider and discuss what may be next for Omega backers.
My first Omega Anyma V patch …
(I was confused where the super high pitched noises came from, it was a quality setting.)
One more!
