My PS4 has been sitting in the entertainment center collecting dust… Till a couple of days ago … when I booted it up for the first time in a couple years to install RDR2. So far, truly magical.
YUP - I’m in. It’s definitely got it’s hooks in to me. I’ve barely started missions/quests etc. too busy dawdling around the scenery getting into scrapes and nonsense. It’s stunning.
My only complaint, and it’s for most games that use em, the push switch on analog sticks -my thumbs don’t like EM. Always end up dancing about like a Cossack during gun fights.

Just bought an Xbox One S to play this. (Only had a 360).
The Xbox is very loud while on and makes an annoying static clicking sound when totally off in power saving mode. The A button on the controller also only works about 90% of the time. Very disappointing.
I bought the special edition which included the pre order bonuses. Haven’t seen anywhere to get the bonus items such as horse though, need to look it up I suppose.
One thing I hate about the game is having to hold every button down to actually action anything, such as pick up an item. So unnecessary.
Yeah the controls are a bit annoying. You’ll reach the stables by doing missions, the bonus horse is in there.
I’m honestly in awe at how beautiful and alive this game is!
I 'm only just really dissapointed by the lack of indoor locations. In a massive city like GTA5 I can understand that it’s impossible to make every building real and possible to enter, but here I think it would be possible, by sacrificing maybe 10-15% of the sheer size of the map. It just messed with the feel of being in a real world, when all these doors are closed (and having a move to kick a door, without it opening). Apart from that the graphics and map design are incredible
A smaller map wouldn’t allow the game engine to deal with interiors , it’s far more complicated than it might seem. , even fading down / fading up to an interior , it’s a lot of data to throw around … not just to make the interior load quickly but to ensure when the player leaves that they’re not waiting ages for the outside world to load back in. Plus,it would also need filling with characters , animations , dialogue , things to do… but the gamer should quite quickly understand the visual language so that it’s obvious if a door can be opened or not …it’s certainly possible if other areas are compromised.
Or maybe interiors are more of a dlc thing to give variety to the open world feel of the main game. .
Just get a lock pick (at the Fencer) and you’ll be able to go through a lot of closed doors that you won’t be able to kick in.
I spent a good while trying to get into a locked house without the lock pick, to no avail, but with the lock pick, I just got straight in.
My poor horse Clarence was shot dead by the Bounty Hunters!!! Going to the Gunsmiths for a scoped rifle to snipe them as payback!!! Poor Clarence
My horse Horace was also shot dead by bounty hunters. Thankfully, I could pick him up again in the stables. Just needed to re-bond with him.
