Any idea what's going on at MFB...? [seems (not) resolved]

Wow, that was astonishingly fast. :joy:

Wow, here we go again !

Seems like the email is back up too.

Good to read that things seem to be continuing, Manfred did a lovely job - may he rest in peace - and I liked many of their products (still really want an MFB Dominion 1 at some point).

(I just had an horrible vision of the future where Behringer would make MFB clones.)

Best sounding Monosynth in that price range (and above). It puts a fat grin on my face whenever I switch on this beast.

Jean-Marcel Fricke will be playing at Superbooth, according to CDM blog.

Has MFB closed down? Apparently their website has been down, again, for over a week. I and others have been waiting for email replies for months.
Obviously Manfred’s death has had a huge impact on the business, so maybe they’ve decided not to continue, which would be a great shame. I remember reading that his son did plan to continue however.
According to their Facebook page they attended Superbooth 22 in May, did anyone see them there?

No disrespect intended, it is/was a family owned and operated business so I wouldn’t blame them for moving on.

Yeah, I hesitate to speculate too, but obviously something’s going on. Hopefully it’s just transitioning pains.

Hi Monocolor,
I’m in the same situation, my Synth Pro is at MFB for repair since 2020, and i haven’t been able to join them for months. Did you get yours back ?

Hi Hotchkiss, unfortunately not…

I was still optimistic when they announced some new modules earlier this year, but since then the page is down and I don’t really believe anymore in getting my synth pro back.

No clue what to do, I might drop a message in a german synth forum hopping that anybody there knows more about the current situation or even has a personal contact.

Did you send yours yourself to MFB or was that handled by a shop?

Here in this german synth forum they discussed a little bit the situation of the company MFB after the passing of Manfred Fricke:

I had no idea they were around this long. Bought a drum sequencer and mixer for Eurorack 10 years ago. They felt so cheap I was afraid I would break them if I used them.

Many thanks for sharing! I already checked sequencer.de, but missed that specific one…

So to quickly summarise, it seems that Jean Marcel is mainly concentrating on his studies at the moment. It’s not clear yet how it continues with MFB in terms of new products, but at least repairs should still be going on. Therefore I guess/hope it’s just a matter of time.

I really hope MFB manage to pull the company together after the passing of Manfred and continue his legacy. They’re an amazing company putting out some incredible devices.

I hope you get your machines back and working soon.

My list for a Dominion 1 and Synth Pro grows by the day…

That’s pretty insane…

After over a year of waiting with (almost) no news and just after this thread popped up again, I got mine finally back today :scream:

No announcement, neither from MFB nor from the store, just a suspicious notification from DHL yesterday and here it is. Still can’t believe it!!

Huge thanks to MFB/Jean Marcel!

@Hotchkiss So I hope you’ll get yours back as well soon!

Lucky you !
I sent mine directly to MFB, how about you ?

Yeah, definitely lucky me!

I got mine at musicstore and could simply return it there, they took care then of dealing with MFB. Just called the shop, the repair work was definitely done by MFB. So that means MFB found a way to get it done somehow which I see as a good sign that you will get yours back (hopefully) soon as well.

Mine had an issue with the VCA which stuttered and randomly interrupted the sound. As far as I know it was related to some defect chips which could easily be replaced. Same issue for you?

Mine had level jumps during the decay phase. What’s a little odd is that MFB told me that it seemed to have the VCA fix already. I haven’t heard from them much since then…
