Analog Rytm OS 1.70 Upgrade

Thanks for explaining, that makes sense! I hope they can do something to make it truly random for the appropriate pattern length. I know what you mean, in that you can flick the knobs and get pretty random anyway, but I also feel this is one of the better uses for the random feature as Euclidean can keep things stable, so it’s a shame it’s not working.

I linked to your post in the bugs topic - it’s certainly sub-optimal - less bug, more oversight, but unwelcome in any case from a musical perspective

Cannot hook now any midi device to the rytm …does the euclidean mode send midi out?

Yes

Makes perfect sense, thanks !

Kudos to Elektron for updating the way we can program the grooves. Not sure why it took so long to implement but they even didnt have to do it and could save it for new generation of their instruments.
The euclid generator is cool but I hope they will keep developing it. So far it can generate triggers but it can be so much more. if lets say the PL2 was creating triggers with different velocity, the pattern would sound different.
Thank you for the update, finally have reason to fix the skippy encoders on mk1

on mk3 there should be EUCL menu with double pages, EUCL1 and EUCL2, throwing pitch, velocity of lfo style destination would be incredible!

but for now you can simply p-lock the steps with Euclidean on, later you can commit or re-generate.

And the kicks you can get out of BD Acoustic with overdrive and the square wave :exploding_head:

Alternate names for BD Acoustic:

BD Hammer

Thank you so much @Elektron!!!

Yep! We went from 0 analog squares to how many, 6?

BD Acoustic
BD Sharp
SY Chip
SY Raw
CB Classic
CB Metal

Yo dawg…

Edit: of course cowbell already was a square, just pulse width was added :man_facepalming:. And SY RAW has no Square!? :sob: So 2 to 5 then?

cowbell? it has PWM for both oscillators now

cool update but it broke my overbridge setup, now the rytm mk1 just stays stuck on measuring and i have no idea how to fix it. if anyone has a similar issue and managed to solve it, please let me know

I plugged my rytm into a funky usb hub and it wrote measuring until I plugged it directly to my mac, maybe try that?

SY Raw has no square on a rytm. also they just add width control to CB, it was square before.

just checked again, why no square output???

first thing i tried and nope, nothing. it was working for almost 10 years without an issue before this ffs

maybe the cable is acting up?
maybe try the new bugs report thread

Its amazing :open_mouth:
I made this today to celebrate

Main things:

the random LFO smoothing is so great on panning and tuning to just add a bit of non-descript width/warmth, something I’ve always struggled with before.

the new Chip and Raw synths are loads of fun and the tuning is super stable. Its incredible to have 3 arpeggiators going off at once on a drum machine

Euclidean sequencer is quite fun but i need more time with it - i used it on the snare in the above track

full fat (off the page) PWM too !
